No - its a lawsuit waiting to happen. Just keep it professional and in the classroom. No need for internet contact that has nothing to do with homework or something school-related. On FB you can get wrapped up in personal things.

I think it is okay if the teacher has a school profile and a private profile. It can actually be something that the teachers can see more about the children they are teaching, but I don't think the kids need to see stuff about the teachers private lives.

I think they should. It helps them to remind students of home work assignments and helps the teachers see if there is any online bulling in their class. Its a good idea as long as the relationship still stays with the teacher being in charge and the student obeying the teacher. I think it will also help the student to listen to the teacher better as well because of that sort of relationship.

I have 2 FB accounts, one which is personal, the other I friend students with. They are more comfortable using social media when they have homework questions. Also, I tend to use it as a snoop tool, and have reported numerous bullying issues. Of course, I teach 10th & 11th graders, so sometimes their posts are worse than my personal account.

Definitley NO, I think teachers deserve privacy from their students and that type of socializing crosses a line between teacher and student.

no unless if it is for school related only unless if they are already out of school and just want to stay in touch then yes
