I am not a huge fiction reader but this book definitely held my attention. It is not a very exciting book with great climax but is continuously very entertaining. I could hardly put it down. It was a very interesting read that includes the perspective of several people including the "help", the maids, and a woman that sympathized with them. I am looking forward to seeing the movie but doubt it will be as good as the movie. I would highly recommend this book.

Loved, loved , loved the movie! I normally cant read a book if I already saw the movie it's annoying because I already know whats gonna happen. I felt this movie was refreshing and a welcome change to the normal drama and suspense. I loved the characters and whole make up of the scenes. I saw a lot of shows afterwards talking about how it was controversial and depicted the times back then wrongly or how the author was out of line writing the store being that she was white. LOL I was upset because I thought who are you to take that away from her she wrote about her childhood. That is what she experienced! Also why does everything have to have some secret underlying meaning geez it was a wonderful story and for me the movie just helped bring those characters to life. Than you Kathryn Stockett for bring this to light.

This was a great read. It holds your attention and while a serious subject, has lots of laughs. So glad a publisher finally picked it up after Stockett was turned down so many times. The movie was very good too.

I loved this book I couldn't put it down, but I was so glad I read the book first then saw the movie. The movie just didn't do the book justice.

I loved this book. It took a little getting use to, to read in the beginning because the author wrote grammatically and so I had to read slower than normal until I got use to it. I loved the story that was told, I like how I was drawn in to each characters individual story. It definitely reminds us of our country's' past. Things that are forgotten are more easily repeated. I also enjoyed the movie. They kept for the most part to the book with a few changes that I noticed only because I had read the book. Both were definitely worth my time and I would totally recommend to a friend.

I really liked this book. It really held my attention. I recommend the mp3 version, you get to listen to the accents of the many different characters, makes you feel as though you are right there with them. The only thing I did not like was the way the book ended. I would have liked to have read an epilogue of how the characters continued to move on. I would have like to know that Minnie was finally able to free herself from the clutches of her husband and that AB, and Maymobly (sp?) was able to see eachother again. I don't think it matters what color the author is. The story is a good story and it needed to be told.

LOVED this book!! I couldn't put it down. I haven't seen the movie, and quite frankly, I'm a little afraid to watch it. I loved the book so much, I'm afraid I'll be disappointed in the movie. I loved that the author wrote the dialogue so grammatically correct. I felt like I was sitting right there in the room with those characters. I've bought several copies to give as gifts, because I want all my friends to read it.

I loved this book! It ranks as one of my top 5 all time favorites! As a Southern Belle, it rang true to home. Stockett does a wonderful job on character development leaving the reader with an understanding of the overarching story from multiple perspectives. After reading the book, I highly recommend seeing the movie, which is equally as good. A must read.

Loved every aspect of the book! Stockett really put history into perspective for me. I now understand how difficult things were back then. I would recommend this book to any and all of my friends. I haven't seen the movie yet so i cannot compare it properly.

Wonderful book, well-written. Movie was true to the book in almost all respects. I highly recommend both!

This was such a good book! I saw the movie first and then went and got the book from the library. I was impressed with how well they matched up. It was a quick read which is what I need since I have three little ones I don't get much time to read.

This book was both entertaining and eye-opening. As a younger person, I wasn't alive during this era, but the book really brought that time to life.

I really loved this book. It was easy to read. The story was very good.I really want to see the movie now!!!!

I read this quickly and really enjoyed it! I always like a happy ending and would have liked it all wrapped up in a pretty bow....but life is not always like that. I read "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" first and both of these books showed us the way things were years ago.

absolutely awesome book. Had to see the movie and it was terrific as well. This is now on my top books of all times.
