A friend gave me a brief run down on this book. Actually it sounded boring, oh but was I wrong. Could not put it down. I love how the characters become almost human. I found myself thinking about them during the day. Loved the book

This book is unbelievable. The way the story is written makes for easy reading. You can not stop turning the pages. Each page comes alive. I would recommend this highly!!!

This was such a great book! I did not read it when it first came out, or even when the movie came out. But after hearing and reading all of the reviews, I decided to give it a try. I could not put it down and had the book finished in about 2 days. I would recommend it to anyone who would like a great read!

I read this book in 1 day! I say repeatedly that this is one of the best books I have read in the last 10 years. I cried and laughed and felt ashamed and felt proud of the characters in this book. It was an amazing experience from start to finish!

I loved this book. It has wonderful insight into a time when people didn't like to talk about what was going on in the world. A friend of my mom's (who suggested the book to me) told me about when she was growing up they had a black woman maid/nanny and she didn't think anything of it. This book made her think about how her "help" must have been feeling. It a really great book.

I loved this book! I finished it within a couple of days and read it any chance I got. The movie is also wonderful if you haven't seen it yet!

I can't say enough about this book. I laughed and cried and just thought it was one of the best books I ever read. It really reminded me about what the old South and in some parts still is like. I are felt like I knew the people. I recommeded it to all of my friends. They loved it just as much as I did. The movie wasn't bad. I thought that the book just had something more.

It took me a couple chapters to get the dialect, but I really enjoyed the humor and reality in this book.

I was given this book as a present last year and had not heard of it prior to that. Wow, what a great book! So emotional that you feel for each of the characters. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've heard it is just as good! Great great great book.

A great book that reminds you that it wasn't such a long time ago when things were very different. It's a very quick read and it has a great lesson or two. I read this with my book club and I have recommended it since. Everyone who has read it on my referral has loved it. A contemporary classic!

I really enjoyed this book. I read it in pretty much one day - could not put it down! I liked that it was told from several characters view point as it provided a more complete view of what was happening. It's an easy, engaging read from start to finish (much better than the movie, in my opinion). I would recommend this to anyone!

Loved the book! So glad I read it before I saw the movie, that way I knew the story and could really enjoy the great comedy that it was.

Love, Love, Loved this book. Nothing like finding a good book that takes less than a week to read and you are upset when it ends. I felt so connected to the characters. I still have not seen the movie and heard the book is so much better. I truly enjoyed this one!

I love this book! I was raised in the South in the 60's in a very simular situation. I could relate to both sides.

Not only did I fall in love with this book, and the characters, but I shared that love with some of my friends who love to read. I always find that a book is better than the movie version of a story but this one was much, much better. I went to see the movie and found that so many of the important details were left out that I was totally disappointed. My book is still floating around out there with some friends who were interested in reading it after seeing the movie. I think I may just read it again when it returns.
