I truly enjoy carrying on traditions...and one of our favorite is the family breakfast-making morning. Everyone has one task....one on eggs, one on bacon...etc....it is a lot of fun and sometimes very chaotic...but we always have a delicious meal...and lots of memories.
Unfortunately, we're not a cooking group - we like the convenience of pre-made food so we can spend more time with our family. We're sucker for Honeybaked Ham locally here. It's the best ham you'll ever eat, everyone loves it and it's quick!
Our brunches are intended to be stress free and delicious. I start with french toast soliders, slicing thick sourdough bread, a nice egg wash and a lovely cinnaon syrup. Fresh fruit, granola, scrambled eggs with bacon crumbles complete the feast, but the star is a pot of coffee. I am a coffee addict, always grind the beans seconds before brewing, and love to offer various creams and syrups to add to your mug to enjoy it even more. Brunch is a fun and festived way to get friends and family together after a night of celebration :)
My favorite time is when Christmas morning we all go over to my sister in law's house where she cooks the healthiest breakfast with the most delicious coffee while everyone opens their gifts. All the adults assist in helping the little ones set up/build their toys. Our breakfast consists of turkey bacon, eggs at our request, English muffin, Hashbrown and pancakes (to our request) and of course lets not forget the coffee. Once the craziness has settled down we all go back into the living room area in our pj's and watch television movies all day. That is the perfect Christmas to me...
I don't have a recipe to share, but I would like to try the Pumpkin Pie White Hot Chocolate recipe. Sounds delicious on a cold winter day!
I added my Grandma's "Carmel Puffcorn" recipe---hopefully in the right spot. I enjoy serving it to the many folks who specifically request it. It's about 4 ingredients, and it's kernel-free which is cool.
My favorite recipie is a quick side dish go-to of carrots, butter, and brown sugar! Throw it in the oven for 25 minutes at 375 and you're done!
I make a yankee breakfast cassarole....it's a secret family recipe with corn bread and hot sausage.
Here is my famous baked corn recipe I make for everyday holiday! Baked Corn: 1 cup Evaporated Milk 2/3 cups Sugar 3 Eggs 4 Tablespoons Butter - melted 4 Tablespoons Flour 1 can Creamed Corn Dash Salt Butter casserole - Mix Eggs, Flour & Sugar. Then add melted Butter, Milk, Corn & Salt. Pour into buttered casserole. Bake 1 hour uncovered at 325 degrees.
What a wonderful bunch of fun recipes, thanks for that!
I like making Nanaimo bars for Christmas every year, so rich, but so worth it!
We all get together with family and friends on Christmas Eve and each bring a dish. It is always requested that I bring potato cheese casserole!
i love the diy gift ideas
This is my absolutely favorite cookie recipe for the holidays! It's my aunt's maple pecan cookie recipe: Maple Pecan Cookies Cookies: 1/2c butter softened 1/2c sugar 2tbsp maple syrup 1c flour 1/2tsp baking soda 1/4tsp salt 1c quick oats 1/2c chopped pecans (If mix is dry you can add a little milk or water) Icing: 2oz cream cheese softened 2tsp butter softened 2tsp maple syrup 1-1/2c sifted powered sugar Bake 350 degrees for 12 mins, 2? apart, rounded spoonfuls. Leave on cookie sheet to cool for about 2 mins before moving to cooling rack. Ice them once they are cool and sprinkle with chopped pecans. Makes 2 dozen.
Italian Pizzelle Recipe 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 3 large eggs 3/4 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted 1 tablespoon vanilla extract or anise extract ( actually I use 1.5 tbsps, but you can add according to your taste) Bake in a pizzelle iron until golden brown and enjoy with coffee or tea!~
