Who says a time out should only be for children?

Jokes aside, a few minutes a day to disconnect and clear our minds is priceless. The opportunity to take a few breaths, relax our shoulders and just sit still can be exactly what we need to recharge and finish the day with excitement and a smile on our face.

It's easier said than done, we know! Crazy schedules, friends, children, spouses, and not to mention today's technology almost always keeps you connected to something or someone. But the benefits of finding that time, even just for a few minutes, can make you feel like a whole new person, like your old self again, maybe even like superwoman.

Research has shown (and supporters can attest) that a little time and effort can go a long way. Practicing yoga, stretching, meditating and running a nice bubble bath are just a few methods of how we can disconnect, and relax. But you, our members, are really the experts. You're the multi-tasking gurus. You're the working professional, stay-at-home mom and party planner all wrapped into one and you do it day after day.

So we want to know, how do you do it  ALL and still find time to disconnect? How do you find a few minutes a day or every couple of days for "Me Time" to rejuvenate your mind and body? Do you have help, set the calendar, or stick to a routine or are you self-aware and just know when it's time to retreat on your own.  Do you find it's easy to put down your cell phone or does someone else unravel your fingers from the keyboard?

Share your experience with us by posting how you disconnect and how you reflect, and you'll be entered to Win 1 of 5 cool relaxation gadgets.  While many relaxation methods can be done with only a few minutes of peace and quiet, we wanted to compile some cool gadgets to help inspire you to find those few minutes a day for yourself.

The contest starts Wednesday, October 5th and ends Monday, October 10th at midnight EST. There will be 5 lucky winners with one winner receiving the grand prize, the Sharper Image Foot Massager, valued at over $50.

Here are the prizes:

Sharper Image foot massager ($50 value)

Aromatherapy Vaporizer with Oil ($40 value)

Conair Foot bath with bubbles and heat ($20 value)

AND

2 Motorized Scalp Massagers ($12 value each)

Good luck!

I am a stay at home mom of two young children. By the end of the day, I am completely worn out. But there's always more on my to do list! On Sundays I make a HOPE TO DO list for the week. At the end of each day, I cross off all of the things I've accomplished. Believe it or not, this relaxes me. I usually watch a TV program with my husband, then do something special for myself whether it's doing a face scrub or mask, whitening my teeth, soaking in the tub, painting my nails or reading a good book. If I have a block of time to myself during the day, I love to garden! There is something about working in the soil, out in the fresh air that soothes me. I can clear my mind, which always seems to be racing. If I am really treating myself, I get a deep tissue massage with hot stones and essential oils. So rejuvenating!

Your article brought to mind just how precious a few moments to disconnect really are. As an older graduate student with a full time 40-hours-per-week job, I find very few "me" moments. When the stress builds up at work, however, I occasionally go outside and walk all the way around the building, at least once. I work on a college campus, so the surroundings are peaceful and eclectic, especially in the fall, so this little bit of fresh air (& exercise!), taken at a slightly leisurely pace, is just right. The sunlight, a few deep breaths, and release of thoughts, enables me to go back in refreshed and relaxed again.

I have to force myself to disconnect or I won't get to. My me time is defiantly after the kids go to bed, on my off day from work on Monday or on the weekends when I go to the "store" and leave the kids with my husband...LOL. I try to stick to a routine or I will miss out. I defiantly use aroma therapy and yoga. I love movies as well. The best method is just to breathe and enjoy the SILENCE. :)

I recently purchased a Ceragem massage bed. The heat and massage rollers really get the tension out of my spine, and I often end up falling asleep. There are distrubutors all over the nation but they prefer that you try their products for a few months before making a purchase. Check out http://www.ceragem.com/ for info.

My favorite way to relax is to garden! I know most people wouldn't find pulling weeds or mowing the lawn relaxing, but I love it.

When I get home from a busy day at work I am greeted at the door by Mango my 8 year old cat. She is full of stories of her day and is ready for a little love, and since I missed her so am I. One of her favorite things is for me to sit on the floor with her and cuddle with her in my lap. She forces me to unwind and most of all open my heart to loving her. What a better way to be welcomed home and to start the second part of my day. She makes my heart smile. Don't forget to love your pets, they are a gift.

One of the most relaxing things for me is to go outside in the sunshine and breath in some fresh air. We are so couped up all day and night that we really need fresh air to feel better.

I take a half hour each day to exercise. It helps relax me because it's my time and I feel really good during and after.

My relaxing time is 60 minutes watching my recorded soap opera each night before going to bed. Helps unwind from a hectic day.

When I get home from work I look at my mail.... but not the financial mailings or bills! I look at the catalogs. It's mindless and relaxing. Might sound funny, but it really relaxes me to sit with a glass of savingon blanc and page through a fashion catalog like Talbot's.
