Do you consider yourself a tightwad or spendthrift?

We recently read that there are more miserly people out there than spenders.  So, we were curious how this might look for women?  Are we women spenders, as we have the reputation to be or are we careful and cautious with our money?

Tell us?  Are you a spender or "super saver"?

Tightwad|I hold on to my money as tightly as possible (39.8%)

Spendthrift|I love to spend! (60.2%)

i would have to say that i am in the middle. My partner is our only source of income, but i grew up very well off, so i still have a lil something to fall on occasionally. i love q-pons, and sales. although i grew up in a well off environment, i was taught the value of a dollar, and had to work for what i got, unless it was necessary to have, nothing was given to me on a silver platter. a lot of my peers would make fun of me because they knew what my family had, but i never acted snobby or too-good. i wore wal-mart and payless, not 200 dollar shoes and gucci. i think my early years taught me to do the same later in life. but i refuse to compromise on some things like soaps, and hygiene items.

I like to spend money myself, I figure if I'm paying everyone else (bills) may as well pay me too. Smile

I don't have a "WANT" to buy many things - just buy what I need. If my buying habits were more mainstream then I'd propably be buying more. But I don't let the ad industry influence my spending habits - they can't convince me that I need all the mass produced products & technologies on the shelves. But if I really need something the "sky is the limits" - otherwise I am a humble shopper.

I'm probably the tightestwad. Always on the lookout for deals. I almost never pay full price. You kinda have to these days.

I think I am somewhere in the middle.I use to shop a lot,but as I grow more mature I now spend wisely. If we stop and think, how many pairs of trousers or shoes ect can we wear at any given time?.Now when I shop its for things I need and not because its on sale. Also to avoid clutter I have a policy,"if you buy something throw the old one out"That attitude will keep us clutter-free.

I love to spend my money, not so much on myself but i do on my little boy. To see his face when you buy him just the simplest thing, makes it worth spending the money. I cant spend money on myself when i could be spending it on him.

i am definitely frugal with my money. Things were tough growing up, old habits die hard. I rationalize that being thrifty at times allows me to spend my money more freely on bigger things that are important to me...like traveling. I have no problem not buying fashionable clothing or such if it means i have security.

I really like to shop, but do it as cheaply as possible! I am an avid couponer and also check clearance items before hitting the new merchandise areas. I search out bargains and sales to keep more money in my pocket as well.

I buy what I need... not what I want.
