I'm spending the same, I'm just stretching it further to enjoy it more. We no longer pay for Cable, Redbox, or Netflix and instead we rent movies from the library. Ditto for buying books. We spend less eating out, but way more on groceries so that we can eat 3 meals a day from home. In cutting back, we're able to splurge on other things occasionally.

I'm spending about the same but looking for ways to get more for my money. I am a serious coupon clipper and I recently discovered that most restaurants have a club that you can join and get all kinds of coupons. I still enjoy myself but I do it with coupons!

I am disabled and began recieving $758/month in January after not being able to work for 2 years. Now ,my partner was diagnosed with adrenal insuffiecency/pituitary disfunction a year ago and has been told/advised by her endocrynologist she can not go back to teaching this year either. So, because our houssehold income has been reduced by 75% I am more than an avid coupon searcher/user and our garden has increased 25%. I can alot of our food and i use the barter system with others to help us all out. I use freecycle often too.

We are spending less because of the ups and downs of the economy. We need to be prepared just in case it gets worse than it has been.

The only reason I am spending more is that we have recently moved and things are much more expensive in AZ than they were in New England. We are also spending more on things for out new house, but when all that is done and when we finally figure out this new state, I feel that I will be spending less.
