I'm going to vote based on what the presidental candidates are going to do for our COUNTRY not because of their gender/race, or if they're a parent or not. And if someone is going to vote based on thos things, They should not be voting.

Palin is the female version of George W. Bush. She tells Charlie Gibson that she is definitely ready to be VP, even the President if need be?? That's an extreme case of self-delusion. She is pro-life but pro-gun? That's total hypocrisy right there. She stands for everything that Hilary does not and will set women back to the stone ages.

If you decide to vote for McCain just because his running mate is a woman, you have no business casting your vote. We should be voting for the most qualified, experienced and intelligent persons to run our country, regardless of sex or color. If Palin becomes our VP she will ruin the chances for all future female candidates who legitimately have the qualifications to run the country. A woman will never be trusted with that much power again.

I originally wanted Hillary in the running but since she cant be I am unsure. I like Obama's 'promises' better but not sure he has the experience to run this Nation. His color has nothing to do with it , its his knowledge and personality that concern me. As for McCain chosing Palin. I believe that was to gain the democratic women voters. She even made a comment about the cracks in the ceiling . I am a mother of a disabled child and it never was a question as to if 'I would keep' him. I dont like how the media says she decided to keep her son knowing he was disabled. I know she could of aborted. It's just how they say 'she decided too' I know many parents through Special Olympics and not many are impressed with them using the disibility and mother thing to gain votes. I watched her on that interview , she didnt even know what the Bush Doctrine was. She avoided direct answers . She is just to unaware, and its a scary thought she could possibly have to take over if anything happened to McCain . I think this country is in for a wild ride with either candidate and to think we will have to take this ride for 4 years .. scary ! I worry for my childrens futures.

All politicians are just that..politicians..We can find skeletons in any of their closets..if we look closely..just like we all have them..if anyone were to look closely..Palin is no different..A few months ago it was Obama's turn to be scrutinized closely..and..he had a few skeletons of his own..as does McCain.... Palin has her personal beliefs..just as we all do..If someone were to be confused by her stance on abortion..and gun laws..I say it is no more confusing than someone not wanting our men to die in war..but is pro abortion..In other words..you need to look at the bigger picture...If she wins..she will not ruin other women's chances at being in public office any more than Bush has ruined a man's chances..or..Clinton's sexual escapades reflects on all male politicians..

McCain's choice, which is strange for a Republican, feels like what people perceive affirmative action is all about. Bring in the inexperienced deficit race/gender to balance the social mores. Palin is a petty minded politician with barely any knowledge of national laws and political know how. She appears to me like an elephant in a china shop. Her political weight as vp (and her smart arse mouth) will only bully people around and continue to damage this country just the way Bush has damaged our friendships with foreign countries and our economy as well as the morale of the citizens of this country.

I felt her rhetoric at the Republican Convention was just the same old, same old empty speech and bold bravado we have had to tolerate during the last eight years. Do we really want that for another 4/8 years? HELL NO!!!!

It's "pro-choice" not "pro-abortion" - as in the government should have no jurisdiction over a woman's reproductive rights.

Come on, we all know that there is a "good ol' boy" network in Washington. Men have always been in the top two positions. This is the first time that a woman has a real possibility of breaking through to that level. Why would we want that person to be someone who is substandard in her qualifications and experience?

And yes, Bush has negatively impacted the Republican party. Why do you think they are distancing themselves from him? And yes, Bill Clinton had a problem with his "sexual escapades", but how did that impact the laws and policies he set forth? So yes, Palin's personal beliefs do matter because she could very well be in a position to change things in our country.
