What do you think influences the brands and types of foods you buy?

Major food companies launch thousands of new products every year. Are there really that many of us trying new things this often? We started to wonder what makes us choose the foods we do? For some of us, our children's taste is a major influence, for others its an expert's opinion.

Tell us, what do you think influences the brands and types of foods you buy? Why?

My own tastes (50.4%)

Children/family (27.3%)

Your doctor/nutritionist (2.2%)

Home cook meals are essential to family life. This is truly when those who love to cook can really bond with others. Cooking is love and love is cooking

if i like it i buy it if i dont i don't, of coarse what my family likes & doesn't like play a role too. i only like a certain brand because i like the product so i'm more willing to "test" new products by that brand but it is no guarantee I'll like a new product. I like samples, it's a way to test it without wasting money, unless the product is so cheap. i tried a brand called brawn because it was only $1.It worked so great i tried all there products and only wished they had more!! If you havent try brawn girls, its as good as if not better than popular brands & more than half the cost!

I purchase 75% organic food. One thing I will never go back to non-organic is milk it just tastes so much better, and I worry about my kiddos and extra hormones.

The needs and wants of my family greatly influences the brands and types of foods I buy. I love to make sure I am making the right choices for them as well as for myself.

I love to cook, but I am limited to what I can cook because the other people in the house are too picky and that makes it hard to be creative.

The advertisers are doing their job! Lately I've been trying to eat healthier and have been noticing the ads and articles in magazines about new healthy foods. Combine that with the coupons in the sunday paper for these new foods and I'm a sucker for advertisers

I like to eat as healthy and as organic as possible. It's important to me to know if foods contain: hormone/ steriod/ antibiotics / pesticides / preservatives. Also I won't buy from companies who participate in animal testing and animal cruelty. Eating is about living. We only have one life and I feel it's my duty to be informed as a consumer. Most companies seem to be motivated by the all might dollar - so I don't trust the companies to do the homework for me (when it comes to eating healthy and making the right choices).
