As this holiday shopping season is nearing, how much do you plan to spend?

The holidays are fast approaching and with them, all the gift giving and celebrations.  Money will be spent, but it is a matter of how much and on what.  Whether what and how you buy are determined by your household financial situation or are a reflection of values (from buying local to possibly paying more for more sustainable products or foregoing products altogether and buying experiences for your loved ones), things likely change from year to year.  So, have you given it any thought?

More than I did last year (23.5%)

The same as I did last year (38.7%)

Less than I did last year (29.6%)

I'm not sure (8.0%)

As this holiday shopping season is nearing, how much do you plan to spend?

We just had baby number three, so we have added to the gift list. As well as adding some family members and babies through extended family. Families grow, we buy more gifts!

I give my children the time to go shopping for my grandchildren by having my grands over for a weekend of gift making for their parents. We get up early in the morning and go hiking in the woods collecting twigs and flowers and whatever the children see fit. Then we return home and construct wreaths and picture frames and ornaments for the tree..all things found in nature...our only expense is the hot glue sticks and some tiny embellishments. We always enjoy our nature walks and the conversations we have doing it. I look forward to this each year and so do the grandchildren.

I usually start my next year Christmas shopping a week after Christmas. I find things year round and place them in a special hiding closet. By the time Christmas rolls around I actually have very little shopping left to do.
