I was shocked when I heard the news! I grew up listening to Whitney, she was so talented and paved the way for so many stars today! I don't care who you are, were you have been or what you have done addiction is a disease, it will consume every part of you and you get to the point were you are living your life to feed your addiction! Some of us are strong enough to hit rock bottom and make it out in the end, sadly some of us never are able to hit rock bottom at all. My heart goes out to her daughter that is suffering so badly right now with the pain of loosing her mother! I know that she will be missed by many and that her legacy will forever go on!

I was not suprised because she had a lot of enablers around her. No matter how hard she wanted to be clean she would have had to get away from them. It is so sad because she was such a beautiful soul an still had so much to give.

Not surprised...Sad indeed. But, why do we make Saints of some so broken??? We need to stop this!!! start educating people that Drugs and Alcohol is not the answer. There are many people ...Most not famous that we (young and older) should look up to

I was a little surprised, but not a lot because she's made some poor choices in her life. At least she's at rest, but I do feel sorry for those left behind.

Given Whitney's past, her death did not necessarily come as a surprise to me; however, the timing did somewhat startle me. She had an incredible range in her voice. No one has ever come close since Minnie Riperton. The music industry has lost one of the "real" singers that existed today. Not many left.

It hurt me, I grew up listening to her music. When I heard her first song I fell in love with her music. RIP Whitney .

I was surprised as far as hearing that a celebrity had died but not surprised that it was her. There have been several news stories here and there recently about her and drug usage which unfortunately makes it a little expected. I do think that it is very sad. She was such a beautiful, talented, vibrant person. It is really sad to see her go this way.

Very sad, tragic really. I've had experience with a drug addicted loved one & sadly the ONLY way to help them is to stop helping them. You can give someone all the resources in the world but it's up to them to use them. RIP Whitney
