Our daughter is 19 months and she sleeps with a blanket and baby doll that is not a stuffed animal.

My daughter is 11.5 months old, and she sleeps with a blanket and "My Pal Scout" in her crib. She snuggles up with Scout and her blanket and falls right asleep while Scout plays lullabies. Then in the morning, she entertains herself with Scout while I fix her breakfast before getting her up. :) We took the bumper pad out at 6 months because she moves around alot and got her head up under the bumper pad one night.

I have NO problem having a blanket or bumper pads in the crib - I didn't with either of my boys. The first month or so I don't have a blanket and had them in sleep sacks, but as they get older and mobile - they will naturally move away from anything blocking their face. My bumper pad is a breathable mesh one, because otherwise my son would get his legs stuck in there and that's not fun at all dealing with in the middle of the night.
