I purchased a car last July and the deciding factor for me was fuel efficiency. In the US fuel prices are expected to soar, and I don't want to be stuck with only one option (I have an SUV) too.
I needed somthing that would be safe in all weather conditions. I loved my little compact car but it just couldn't handle the snow in PA!
Fuel efficiency and all the GPS, and other quirks are awesome & do come into major factor when deciding, but I have to have a car that I like to look at too... so I chose design.
My husband only likes Chevy Silverados.
I haven't bought a new vehicle in 10yrs, but when I choose the next vechicle, fuel efficiency will be top of the list! My minivan has all wheel drive and when we purchased it I didn't realize the effect it has on gas milage. I was really bummed when we realized how bad it was!
I've only ever bought used cars, so when I went to get the last one my dad helped me research and we went with the one that had the best reviews and the most positive research. That was over five years ago. It's a 1995 Nissan - and for a 16-year-old car with 170,000 miles on it, it still runs like new! In the future I'll be sticking with Nissan - so if this question were asked after my next car purchase, I'd have said "Brand Loyalty."
We own our vehicles and don't want to purchase another one until we absolutley have to. When we do purchase another one we will want one that is fuel efficient and enviromently friendly.
Our last new vehicle was purchased 6 years ago. Although I new which make & style I wanted, it was the design that made the ultimate choice. By design I don't really mean just the 'look' but more the overall design and comfort in the actual design. I nap in my car at lunch so the design inside had to accomodate that need. Plus the outside had to both look good and be 'earth' friendly.
A car that's fuel efficient, has a good safety record & is in excellent running order and dependable.
We bought our 2006 Dodge Ram after totalling the previous one in an accident. The accident was traumatic and by God's grace and truck design we were not harmed so we bought another one. It does not get good gas mileage at all but it is very safe. Our next vehicle, however, will be one that gets great gas mileage.
