I check out all the info, but I pay special attention to sodium content since I was diagnosed with high blood pressure.
I like to know how much sugar is in the product aside from calories and fat. Lots of low fat food and even low calorie food are not low on sugar which in my book equals fat too!!
I have to always check the labels for Aspartame, MSG, Carageenan, High Fructose Corn Syrup if a product contains any of these I won't buy it because of allergies & migraine headaches! I have learned the hard way there are foods we eat/drink everyday that are toxins to our body then we go to the Dr. for a magic pill RX which winds up causing yet more damage to our bodies several years later! It's the Dr.'s who make money & the pharmaceutical companies just using us...If we keep this up our bodies won't last long!
i look at everything. i used to really look hard at fat, but after having been diagnosed with diabetes i have to really take a hard look at the carbs that are in a product. i still have to consider everything before i will buy it though.
I also look at everything. Depending on the item fat may not be an issue. It's the ingredients in small print that worries me. Like the post above aspartame, msg, and high fructose corn syrup.
I am concerned with salt content, but more than that I do not eat knowingly any substitute sugars or "diet" products. More than that I am not into eating chemicals of any nature either. Nothing that is poisonous. My first choice is organic products.
I agree with the person who said they check everything and it depends on what they are buying as to what is more important. The first thing I check, though, is transfats, because no matter what it is, I don't buy any product with transfats.
I check everything that is listed on the label - as a member of Weight Watchers, I'm very conscious of my calories, fiber and fat. The other elements are important to consider as well, but these would be my top three. Its also important to consider that some foods that are high in calories are actually good for you as calories don't necessarily tell you the whole story about a particular food item.
I look for fat and sugar.also i look for contaminating contents.
calories i watch out for, but when you are buying a product that the whole family is going to eat, you then have more things to watch out for depending on what the other members of your family can eat. I need to make sure its healthy for myself and my husband and at the same time, make sure it doesnt have loads of sugar that will hype my son up.
