I have great memories playing with the barbies.I think it is a great toy for imagining but not taking to the extremes of getting obessed with their looks and such.

I don't think she's ever been a good role model for girls. I did enjoy playing with my Barbie, Ken, and Midge dolls. Dressing them up to go skiing, go to fancy dances, relax at the beach, etc. was fun and rather harmless. I think my generation knew then, though, that life wasn't really like that.

While I played with Barbie I never liked her. I remember ripping her head off and putting Skipper's head on Barbie's body. Barbie always had everything, the car, the guy (many different types), and every career under the sun. I think it puts unrealistic expectation for girls and teaches them materialism at a young age. That said, it does give something to immolate that is taking care of ones self and portraying a polished self image.

I think its cute it was my favorite toy as a child growing up, back then I would be on my best behavior so I can one for Christmas/birthday etc. But I do think they make them too flawless these days and they beginning to look like a pornographic idol instead of a toy for small children an seeing how these kids now a days are sensationalized they think that's how a real person is suppose to look an is hurting them self trying to be that way. They need to tone it down a little an perhaps make barbie look more like an average human being. AM JUST SAYING. But I love Barbie though :-)

I have such great memories playing with Barbies with my friends, my sister and alone! I didn't think about her looks or wanting to be like Barbie, I just loved the clothes and the imagination that went along with playing with her.

My opinion of MY Barbie collection hasn't changed since I was little - I still love all my dolls! I'm not as big of a fan of the newer Barbies, though. They are trying to keep Barbies "cool" and trendy to keep up with society and the interests of young girls. I am glad today's Barbies weren't around when I was a kid in the 80s because they wouldn't have interested me as much. My Barbies were "simpler"

I adored my Barbies! I had cool vintage ones from the 60's and my own from my own era. Loved the clothes and spent a lot of time dressing them up for this, that or the other activities---camping, dancing, school, weddings. It was wonderful make-believe for me and my sister. Plus "Toy Story 3" is just hilarious to me, partly b/c of Barbie and Ken!

Barbies are a perfectly fine toys for little girls. They get to dress them up in different outfits and brush there hair. My daughter loved hers. She rarely plays with them now but not once did she compare herself to these dolls. I think people just like to complain about things. Of course the makers are going to make them "flawless" I don't think they would sell if they were ugly.

I loved Barbies. I chose names for them (the names changed every day), they had different careers, different friends, etc. Barbie let me use my imagination. The idea that Barbie is a bad influence is silly to me. I never expected to grow up and look like Barbie..she was a doll, not real.
