There is now a movement to try to convince parents to postpone getting their child a cell phone, saying kids without phones are more independent and self-reliant. What do you think?

At what age did you get your child a cell phone?

Agree - kids shouldn't have to always be in contact with their parents (0.0%)

Disagree - parents should always know where their kids are (0.0%)

Not sure - kids should have some independence, but should be able to contact parents when needed (0.0%)

I think kids become spoiled, disrespectful brats with cell phones! If staying connected with their parents is an issue, then all they need is a firefly phone. My daughter and son will neither one be getting a cell phone until they are at least like 16 and even then it will be very basic and highly monitored.
