Consumers have been flocking to stores every Friday after Thanksgiving for many years. Hence the term, Black Friday as many retailers become profitable (in the black) during that day. Recently, the sales and store hours have been getting earlier and earlier as retailers attempt to lure shoppers in to spend.
With all of the holiday sales, we are curious, are you spending more, less or the same so far this holiday season? Tell us what you think. We want to know!
I've spent MORE than I did last year (21.3%)
I've spent LESS than I did last year (48.5%)
I've spent about the SAME as I did last year (30.2%)
I refuse to shop Black Friday.
I have no problems catching Black Friday sales on-line but venturing out, no way.
I can't believe that people wait for up to 48 hours for Black Friday sales. Its just crazy!
@dida...here in Los Angeles a woman on the radio said she waited in line for 3 days for a TV. She said at the one she was at if you wanted to get a certain deal you had to have been in line Tuesday by 3pm at the latest. How crazy is that?! I personally went out on black friday but not until late in the afternoon. By the time I went out the stores were completely dead. But I just had to pick up one thing. Then I went out & shopped some local places on small business saturday :)
Black Friday was ridiculous, even in the smaller stores. I can't hang with the big dogs, we pretended to go to Best Buy for my mother-in-law's tv, but the line was accross the shopping mall and behind the buildings into the alley and mom refused! Walmart had no line outside, but the parking area was packed to the brim. Craziness!
Cyber monday is more my way to go! Too many people out there!
No matter what good deals were out there, you would never see me out shopping in the crowds on Black Friday!
I was thinking of going out but my daughter got sick. Boy after watching the news I am sure glad I didn't. There is no way I would physically fight someone over an item, any item. Just silly. Black Friday is MUCH better!
