My Mom and friend had/has breast cancer.
I don't know anyone who has had breast cancer, But there has been alot of cancer in my family. My heart goes out to all who are affected by this.
My sweet MIL fought breast cancer for many years before passing away about ten years ago. Also, one of my mentors and my friend Eileen are survivors.
I have 5 children - 3 daughters and 2 sons. My middle child/middle daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer last June and began her 6 chemotherapy treatments in July 2010. She has since had major surgery and begun the reconstruction process. She is 45. She has 2 teen boys. She teaches special ed students in southern Georgia. Her husband is unemployed and has been for over a year. Her job is their only income and only source for insurance. It has been a rough year. Her cancer was HER2+. She is and will be on medications for at least another 5 years. During this year, her father/my husband was diagnosed with rare and aggressive lymphoma. As I said a very hard year.

Sadly, my best friend died 3 years ago of cancer than began in her breast. I miss her terribly. Otherwise, I've been fairly fortunate that it's not plaguing my family or any of my other friends.
A dear friend of mine is a survivor of breast cancer. My heart and prayers go out to the women and families who have to go through such a terrible thing and for the ones who don't make it.
I have known six women (friends) who have fought breast cancer. Two of them lost their battle, but the other four are still waging war against this beast!
Fortunately, no one close to me has been diagnosed. But my heart goes out to the women who have been afflicted.
