Teens seem to have things they want to buy...ok, many things! As parents, we want to give our children money but, also want to balance that with building responsibility and also ensuring security (has your teen ever lost the cash you gave them?!). Would you consider giving your teen a prepaid card instead of cash? Why or why not?

I would but regardless she would still want cash!!!!!
In my view, this is like giving a gift card to a child. My 10 yo got a gift card for her b'day and thought she was rich....until we were at the mall to buy 'whatever she wanted' with it and she saw how expensive her 'dream clothes' really were! She learned a lot and ended up shopping clearance racks (like her Mama does!).
i have it for my daughter (she is 13) since she was 11 and it works beautifully!
This would help track their spending habits and also a sense of responsibility.
You'd have to really stay on them to help them to check it's balance online but it's a super great way to teaching a child how to balance their money. Watching it go away so quickly is really shocking!
I like the idea of tracking the spending and sending some responsibility along with it.
I think its an easier way of keeping track of exactly how much your kids are spending
My daughter prefers receiving cards instead of gifts, that way she can get what she KNOWS she likes, and not what Grandma or 'Aunt Ethel' thinks she likes. I like how she can see what I actually pay for some of the stuff she wants/needs. Puts it all in a different perspective.
I love the idea that my child will never loose money if its all kept on a card!!! Plus i can monitor spending :S
My daughter gets a certain amount of cash every week. Once its gone, its gone. She has to manage it herself.
