I used to have a frustrating time getting up in the morning and I tried everything. First the radio, and I even tried putting it to a foreign station so that it would sound more unique and distracting and annoying, but over time, my mind got used to it and I would sleep through the alarm clock , which caused me to get late for work, and there's just not enough sun in where I live in the morning to get that to wake me up. Thanks to the Philips Wake Up Light, my mind hasn't adjusted to it yet and I've been trying it out and it's worked out quite nicely.

We were excited to receive the Philips Wake-Up Light as no one in our household is a morning person. My husband was originally going to be the guinea pig, but then as the days shortened, we decided that our five year old son would be a better candidate. He has had such a hard time getting up for school since it is still dark out when it is time to get up. The first night, my husband spent a long time trying to figure out how to set it. He said it was kind of confusing, but managed to figure it out. That morning, the light never came on, but the radio did. For whatever reason, the light has come on ever since. It has worked so well for our son and he is up and out of bed so easily now. No jarring alarm clock or overhead light. We also love that the light can be used independently as a night light or reading light. We would have liked it to be a little more simple to operate. Also, we don't find it super attractive. It would be nice to have a design that was a little less obtrusive in the room. Overall though, we love it!

This is a really great product for anyone who needs a little help waking up in the morning. Actually, it would help you just as well if you are on wacky shifts at work. You can use this to wake yourself like it's morning even when it's night out. In the Pacific Northwest it can look like it's still dark out due to the weather. So, again, a super way to help wake up. If you don't like the birds, you can turn those off. The benefit of the light gradually waking you is still there. Set the alarm for when you want to wake and know you will wake up in a more pleasant less shocking way then your alarm ever gave you. I would definitely recommend to anyone who doesn't have that 'natural' tendency to pop awake bright and perky without an alarm.

I have tried it our for about a week and so far it is driving me crazy. I haven't been able to wake up as easy and have even sleep through it which made me late for work. At times I had trouble setting it and my husband at the moment hates it. I am going to test it out some more to see if my opion changes..

It took me a few days (okay weeks) to decide how I felt about the Philips Wake Up Light and the final result -- I am very happy! I have to wake up at 5:30 every morning and it is so hard to do in winter. It is dark outside, house is cold, blah...just don't want to do it. Well, the light really helps. I am definitely more awake and alert when I wake up, it sounds crazy, but the light on and the birds also makes me feel warmer. In my opinion there are only two problems with the product. 1- my husband hates it. He doesn't like the chirping birds and is annoyed by the light going on. If you share a room with someone who is a light sleeper or doesn't wake up at the same time as you, it might be a problem. 2 - For the first few days I woke up the second the light went on. I am used to it now, so I am able to doze off for a few more minutes and still wake up refreshed. All in all I think it is a great product, and will (have) recommend it. I am not ready to call myself a morning person, but I am on my way!

I was a little skeptical at first but I really like this Wake-Up Light. I love how it "gently" wakes you up instead of the annoying beep, beep, beep. My husband like it as well. I do wish there was an option to change the amount of time that the light starts to turn on but overall, I loved the Philips Wake-Up Light.

I am surprised at how much I like this product. I had no idea that it included alarm clock features as well as the wake-up light. And not only does the light come on softly, but the am radio also comes on very lightly at first and then gradually gets louder until it hits the maximum volume you pre-selected. This really keeps me from getting jarred awake and being startled. It is very pleasant to be woken up slowly instead of having the radio come on like a horn. It's also great to be able to choose from: radio, birds chirping, and beeping.

I really like the Phillips Wake Up Light. It really does what it clams to do. It gently wakes you up with light, You can also add nature sounds if you like. It sure is better to wake up with this, rather then to an annoying alarm clock. I definitely recommend this it really works well.

This has made a huge difference in my morning attitude. With this much light I get up as though it is summer, ready to enjoy the day. I even started using it on weekends as it improved my whole day. I don't have that groggy feeling anymore. I would highly recommend this. I have used other lights, but they were not as bright and didn't make the difference that this one does.

Let me start off by saying that my husband was SO EXCITED to try this product! He was very familiar with the concept (unbeknownst to me) and when it arrived he could not have been more thrilled. WE LOVE IT. Hands down, it is awesome. He absolutely loves how it wakes him up with gradual light; I love that I no longer have to listen to the annoying beep of his alarm! And, since he gets up a full 90 minutes before I do, I like that it easily allows me to fall back to sleep as soon as he turns the light off. The only thing negative I have to say about is that it is a bit big and obnoxious looking on our nightstand. However, that is just my personal taste talking there....and, with the results we get from it, it's worth it. Awesome product! Absolutely love it!!

Really enjoyed using this product. It allows me to get a better quality of sleep and wake up naturally, instead of by a loud alarm clock. It has even helped my husband sleep! I will recommend this product to others!

Overall, I absolutely love this product. I definitely find it a very pleasant way to wake up. I cannot remember the last time I have woken up feeling like I wasn't being "forced" to get out of bed. I use the light & the bird-chirp sound and always first wake up to the sound of the birds, which is a very pleasant, fairly realistic sound. I have it set fairly low (still loud enough that I can hear, though) and found that at the higher levels it doesn't sound quite as pleasant. The light settings also vary a TON. There is insanely bright light (brighter than I think our overhead light is even) and very, very low (you can almost not see anything by it) light. This is great because you truly can personalize it to your preference for the amount of light you want to wake up to. My 2 big complaints (and they both have to do with how setting the alarm, pretty much) - it is a bit ridiculous how complicated setting the thing is. Once you're used to it, it isn't so bad. I actually did have to skim the directions to get it set (most things I wing it before I consult the instructions, lol) and even then it was a struggle the first few days making sure everything was working just as I wanted it to. Second - the on/off switch. Off is up, on is right in the middle, if you push down it doesn't stay, but will "test" the alarm/light levels so you can set it to where you want it. This is a great except that most products up= on, down= off, so for the first few days (and even occasionally now) I was hitting "up" thinking I was setting the thing on. It's just so backwards it's difficult to get used to, especially when you are tired & not thinking completely straight. I would definitely, definitely recommend this to a friend. I agree that not everyone would do well with this, but I would say the vast majority would have a MUCH more pleasant waking experience. I do not feel like I am waking up to an "alarm" most days. Also, one more note about the reviewer who I happen to be seeing as I type this - they say they wouldn't recommend this to people who have dogs. Now our dogs do not sleep inside the room with us, so that may be why, but we have not had any issues with it. But I think it is true that it really depends on the person. I think most would benefit quite a bit from this. Some I'm sure would not.

I like this light more as a night light for my baby than waking up myself. He also enjoys the bird sounds.

I have never really had a hard time getting up in the morning but like all normal people there are those first few minutes in the morning where I feel lethargic and not exactly raring to tackle a full day head on. While the Phillips Wake up light didn't wake me up any worse or better than any other alarm clock I have to say that I really liked having a gradual light come on like a sunrise. I found that the light made me a little peppier in the morning and my eyes didn't feel quite as tired those first couple of minutes when I get up where I'm getting organized for the day. So even though I consider myself a morning person by nature, I do think that even a morning person can do with a little light therapy to give em their get up and go. I also found that it made a much more dramatic difference with my husband. He is definitely NOT easy to wake up, especially in the winter when its so dark out so long in the morning. He's usually grumpy and disoriented for about the 1st hour after he wakes up. The light seemed to improve his wake up time and mood as well. I think the gradual light change as well as the more soothing sounds of the actual alarm were a better match for how he needs to get up. I probably would have never just gone out and bought this product on my own because I would have been skeptical but after using it I would and have recommended it to my friends. Its definitely worth every penny if you have someone in the house that is not easy to wake up in the morning.

This product did nothing for me.
