I really like this!! At first I was skeptical but after a few days it's been really nice to wake up with every morning!1 I would definitely reccommend it!

The gradual increase in light is a nice way to wake up. Much better than the buzzing of a regular alarm. I haven't noticed a difference in my energy level yet, but I would recommend it as a better way to wake up in the morning.

happy dance. I love this alarm clock! I have always struggle to get up. And living in the Pacific Northwest on the Canadian border has not made it easier. This clock, however has helped. I still don't really enjoy getting up, but the gradual light makes the transition easier. I also really like the gentle alarm. The clock itself is decent looking and very streamlined. The buttons are easy to use. The controls and settings make sense even if you don't read the instruction manual. My only suggestion would be to add a.m. radio and a go-to-sleep timer for the radio. If I were purchasing this for myself, I'd spend the extra $ and get the version with the Ipod dock. :-)

Overall I really like this product. The set up was quick and easy. Placement of this product makes a big difference in it's effectiveness. My husband tried placing the alarm clock up higher on a tall dresser and it was not very effective. Then we placed it on my side of the bed at eye level. It worked like a charm. I was up before my children and in a surprisingly good mood. I am a night person and have depression and take medication to help me sleep. This makes waking up challenging but I think the light really helped break through my morning fog. I would say the only drawback to the product comes when your partner doesn't need to wake up when you do and is woken up by the light before you. All in all I am very satisfied with the Philips Wake-up Light and would definitely recommend it to my friends and family.

I love waking up to the light and the bird sounds! Don't really like the look of it. Too big and bulky for my nightstand.

I LOVE this alarm clock!!! I get up a little bit before 4am and live in the Pacific NW...I was hesitant at first thinking that the light would not wake me up, so the first few days I set my regular alarm as well..I never needed it. I am awake before the alarm even has a chance to go off. When I wake up I am not nearly as groggy as I was with my regular alarm, and this one does not wake up my husband. I am very satisfied with this alarm clock, I think the only draw back for me is that it starts to light up 1/2 hour before I need to get up, so I usually lose about 15 min worth of sleep =(

I liked this light a lot. I do think for the price of it that it should have just a few more options to it like being able to use a battery in it for one thing. I love the sounds and the way it gradually wakes you up with the light, perfect for gloomy mornings. I found it really does brighten my day. I would recommend this to a friend because it is nice with a lot of features to it, and it makes getting up in the morning a pleasant experience.

I think this is a good product. I can usually get up pretty easily in the mornings but my husband doesn't and he really liked this instead of annoying beeps. I think it is pretty costly though so I'm wondering if there should be more options on it for the price. Overall, great idea and stress free way to wake up in the morning!!!!

I have never really had a hard time getting up in the morning but like all normal people there are those first few minutes in the morning where I feel lethargic and not exactly raring to tackle a full day head on. While the Phillips Wake up light didn't wake me up any worse or better than any other alarm clock I have to say that I really liked having a gradual light come on like a sunrise. I found that the light made me a little peppier in the morning and my eyes didn't feel quite as tired those first couple of minutes when I get up where I'm getting organized for the day. So even though I consider myself a morning person by nature, I do think that even a morning person can do with a little light therapy to give em their get up and go. I also found that it made a much more dramatic difference with my husband. He is definitely NOT easy to wake up, especially in the winter when its so dark out so long in the morning. He's usually grumpy and disoriented for about the 1st hour after he wakes up. The light seemed to improve his wake up time and mood as well. I think the gradual light change as well as the more soothing sounds of the actual alarm were a better match for how he needs to get up. I probably would have never just gone out and bought this product on my own because I would have been skeptical but after using it I would and have recommended it to my friends. Its definitely worth every penny if you have someone in the house that is not easy to wake up in the morning.

I like this light more as a night light for my baby than waking up myself. He also enjoys the bird sounds.

Overall, I absolutely love this product. I definitely find it a very pleasant way to wake up. I cannot remember the last time I have woken up feeling like I wasn't being "forced" to get out of bed. I use the light & the bird-chirp sound and always first wake up to the sound of the birds, which is a very pleasant, fairly realistic sound. I have it set fairly low (still loud enough that I can hear, though) and found that at the higher levels it doesn't sound quite as pleasant. The light settings also vary a TON. There is insanely bright light (brighter than I think our overhead light is even) and very, very low (you can almost not see anything by it) light. This is great because you truly can personalize it to your preference for the amount of light you want to wake up to. My 2 big complaints (and they both have to do with how setting the alarm, pretty much) - it is a bit ridiculous how complicated setting the thing is. Once you're used to it, it isn't so bad. I actually did have to skim the directions to get it set (most things I wing it before I consult the instructions, lol) and even then it was a struggle the first few days making sure everything was working just as I wanted it to. Second - the on/off switch. Off is up, on is right in the middle, if you push down it doesn't stay, but will "test" the alarm/light levels so you can set it to where you want it. This is a great except that most products up= on, down= off, so for the first few days (and even occasionally now) I was hitting "up" thinking I was setting the thing on. It's just so backwards it's difficult to get used to, especially when you are tired & not thinking completely straight. I would definitely, definitely recommend this to a friend. I agree that not everyone would do well with this, but I would say the vast majority would have a MUCH more pleasant waking experience. I do not feel like I am waking up to an "alarm" most days. Also, one more note about the reviewer who I happen to be seeing as I type this - they say they wouldn't recommend this to people who have dogs. Now our dogs do not sleep inside the room with us, so that may be why, but we have not had any issues with it. But I think it is true that it really depends on the person. I think most would benefit quite a bit from this. Some I'm sure would not.

Let me start off by saying that my husband was SO EXCITED to try this product! He was very familiar with the concept (unbeknownst to me) and when it arrived he could not have been more thrilled. WE LOVE IT. Hands down, it is awesome. He absolutely loves how it wakes him up with gradual light; I love that I no longer have to listen to the annoying beep of his alarm! And, since he gets up a full 90 minutes before I do, I like that it easily allows me to fall back to sleep as soon as he turns the light off. The only thing negative I have to say about is that it is a bit big and obnoxious looking on our nightstand. However, that is just my personal taste talking there....and, with the results we get from it, it's worth it. Awesome product! Absolutely love it!!

It took me a few days (okay weeks) to decide how I felt about the Philips Wake Up Light and the final result -- I am very happy! I have to wake up at 5:30 every morning and it is so hard to do in winter. It is dark outside, house is cold, blah...just don't want to do it. Well, the light really helps. I am definitely more awake and alert when I wake up, it sounds crazy, but the light on and the birds also makes me feel warmer. In my opinion there are only two problems with the product. 1- my husband hates it. He doesn't like the chirping birds and is annoyed by the light going on. If you share a room with someone who is a light sleeper or doesn't wake up at the same time as you, it might be a problem. 2 - For the first few days I woke up the second the light went on. I am used to it now, so I am able to doze off for a few more minutes and still wake up refreshed. All in all I think it is a great product, and will (have) recommend it. I am not ready to call myself a morning person, but I am on my way!

This is a really great product for anyone who needs a little help waking up in the morning. Actually, it would help you just as well if you are on wacky shifts at work. You can use this to wake yourself like it's morning even when it's night out. In the Pacific Northwest it can look like it's still dark out due to the weather. So, again, a super way to help wake up. If you don't like the birds, you can turn those off. The benefit of the light gradually waking you is still there. Set the alarm for when you want to wake and know you will wake up in a more pleasant less shocking way then your alarm ever gave you. I would definitely recommend to anyone who doesn't have that 'natural' tendency to pop awake bright and perky without an alarm.

We were excited to receive the Philips Wake-Up Light as no one in our household is a morning person. My husband was originally going to be the guinea pig, but then as the days shortened, we decided that our five year old son would be a better candidate. He has had such a hard time getting up for school since it is still dark out when it is time to get up. The first night, my husband spent a long time trying to figure out how to set it. He said it was kind of confusing, but managed to figure it out. That morning, the light never came on, but the radio did. For whatever reason, the light has come on ever since. It has worked so well for our son and he is up and out of bed so easily now. No jarring alarm clock or overhead light. We also love that the light can be used independently as a night light or reading light. We would have liked it to be a little more simple to operate. Also, we don't find it super attractive. It would be nice to have a design that was a little less obtrusive in the room. Overall though, we love it!
