I absolutley love this book. I have a lot of other books that I use every once in a while but this book is used almost every day. It is great for something special that might be a completely new recipie to try out and it is great for simple recipies that you just need a little reminder and tips on. I think that is a simple to follow and does not use lots of crazy ingriedients that are hard to find. This is my favorite cook book!

This is like the bible in our kitchen. It has everything in it that you will come across in cooking. It covers measurment conversions, substitutions, and has tried and true recipes. beginners as well as accomplished cooks can learn from this book. I absolutely love it!!!

I own about 7 cookbooks, ended up leaving a box behind in a move which broke my heart but I was excited to see that this cookbook was not left as without it I would be lost. It is a definite cookbook for everyone to have from novice to expert. It has the simplest recipes for the beginner to the most advanced and covers a wide variety of foods and it walks you through each step, and simple enough that even my husband can understand it. I have had this book since I received it as a wedding gift back when I was 16 and have not been without it since!!!

This was one of the very first cookbooks that my mother introduced me to. It is very easy to use from the beginner cook to the advanced chef. I share quality time cooking with my daughter with this cookbook. I make several meals from this cookbook for church dinners to home parties with friends. I highly recommend the Joy of Cooking as a gift to give to someone or as a treat for yourself.

This is the one cookbook that everyone should have in their library. This is my go to book. Whether I am looking for something a little extra special or just a good weeknight meal this is the book where you will find it all. I love this book and could not imagine my kitchen without it. You will definately use this book unlike many others that we tend to buy and then leave collect dust on our shelves. I give it as a gift for wedding showers and housewarmings.

Love the recipes and the easy instructions to follow.

I always give this cookbook to new brides as a shower gift with blank recipe cards. It never goes out of style and is helpful to get started with cooking great dinners and brunches.

Great for those who love to read cookbooks because you'll learn a lot about the details of what you're cooking.. Some of the entries, like about how to select a fresh chicken (you mean you can cook chicken that wasn't frozen?) are dated, as are some of the recipes. And, there's not much in the way of ethnic food. That said, I turn to this book for the old standbys like pie crust, cream sauces, and any cut of any meat.

Am I the only one who just doesn't like this cookbook??? I WANT to like "The Joy..." but I have almost 100 cookbooks and about 5 that are my go to books and I always pull out the Joy when looking for a recipe and it rarely gives me what I need. The couple of times I have used a recipe from the book they haven't come out very good. I think the Better Homes and Garden and the Cooks Illustrated cookbooks are much better over all cookbooks. I feel like such a trader for not liking this book
