I love home improvement stores, but not Home Depot. Trying to get help from a salesperson is frustrating. Waiting in the long checkout lines can border on ridiculous. They do have a good assortment of items it you already know what you need and where it is at, and if you have plenty of time to stand in a long check out. Also, if you shop right after a delivery of plants, you can get some lovely ones. However, my favorite is Lowe's. They are obviously much more customer oriented.

My husband literally lives at Home Depot. Also I might add, we only live about a block from one. However I will not go anymore as I have a difference with them on some social issues. I feel there are too many good causes that benefit everyone and establishments should not support social issues.

I have never had a worse product buying experience than at the Home Depot. My husband & I decided to build a shed in our backyard. We chose 1 from the Home Depot. Sadly, the kit came with no shingles, no plywood for the floor, no nails, no nothing. However, the brochure said that it was a complete kit! When we challenged Home Depot on it, no one at the store knew what to do or say. When we finally got a response back from Corporate (after calling the 1800 several times) the best that they could come up with was "it was a typo" and they offered us a piece of plywood for the floor. We were out for the shingles, nails, paint, sealer, and everything else not included in this "complete kit." Would give this ZERO stars but the system won't let me.

You can never find an employee to help you and if you do find one, they usually don't have a clue.

Love that they give Military an extra 10%! Not enough stores/chains show that kind of appreciation :)

I do not like this store. From the minute you pull into the parking lot you are greeted by all these illegals looking for work. I do not like them hanging out in the parking lots. They leave their trash everywhere, are not very polite and really bring down the company. This is all before I go into the store. Once in, it is really hard to find someone to help you. Then when you finally figure out what you need they want you to use a qucik check out service! I do not care for these as they only want to get rid of jobs and cut hours. Do not care for this store at all. I would rather go to a smaller store where you will get help and they know whtat they are talking about. Also will not be greeted by all the illegals

My husband loves this store. First of all, there is everything you can imagine for working on your home! Second is the great customer service. No matter who you ask or where they are, they then take you to the item you are looking for even if its at the other end of the store.

Given the opportunity, I will go somewhere else. The only reason I go there is the close proximity to my home. My running joke about Home Depot is they have one guy that knows something about the products that you are interested in, but he / she services an entire region of stores. In other words, never at the same store you are shopping in. It is also amazing how difficult it can be to find anyone wearing a bright orange vest. I much prefer Lowes system where you press an "assistance needed" button in the aisle you are in. The system then pages a knowledgeable employee who actually works in the department that you are in. I don't think I have ever heard; "I'm sorry this isn't really my dept., I'm just filling in" at Lowes. In contrast, I hear it all the time at Home Depot. I have even been told that 'John Doe' will be back in 2 days, so I can come back then if I want to ask questions. No attempt to bring in a supervisor or store manager to answer my question. If I remember correctly, this was about a $900 purchase that I would not make without my questions answered. I left the store, drove about 20 minutes to a Lowes and experienced customer service which resulted in my business.

I like shopping at Home Depot. The selection is good, the staff are friendly and helpful, the products are good and I don't have any problems returning things. My only real complaint is that they tempt me to do more remodeling and updating than I can afford right now.

Can I give this store less than a 1??? This is the most horrible store I've ever been to. They are ALWAYS understaffed, and no one knows anything about their products that they sell...not to mention they are not very friendly. I will go to Lowe's or anywhere else any day. I went there to have someone cut a piece of wood for us to put in an air conditioner. I asked 3 different people for help, waited for over an hour. Another guy came and asked for help and the lady said that someone would be right there for him. I told her that I had been waiting for an hour to simply have someone cut a piece of wood for me, and she had the nerve to tell me to wait my turn. I would have cut the wood myself if I were allowed to use their equipment.
