This book was amazing. Very detailed and descriptive. You really feel as if you are there watching everything. I could not put this book down and often times was woken up by my husband as I am face down in the book. I loved the charecters, the plot everything!

This is the best book I have read in years! I can't recommend it enough! It is fabulous and I can't wait to see the movie. The story grabs you and doesn't let you go. You can smell the melted tar on the Mississippi roads, the toil in the cotton fields, the grits burning on the stove. The theme is the indomitable will of human beings to survive against all odds - because of the color of their skin. It is a heart-wrenching account and you will never fondly remember the times of the Jim Crow laws (if you ever did). The pure, down and out bitchery of the white ladies who become dissatisfied with their maids and proceed to ruin their lives is portrayed vividly. The desperation of the maids' circumstances is truly touching. I have laughed and cried my way through this book and plan to re-read it.

I really enjoyed this book and can't wai to see the movie!

Ok book, it wasn't a favorite but an ok book.

I wasnt sure if I'd like this book, because I as most people think how awful it was back then andI thouhgt maybe it would be too much. However, the Author wrote this in a very tastful way and I couldnt put the book down. Im watching the movie tonight! LOVE IT

One of the best. It's funny and smart!

Really enjoyed this book! It's definitely better than the movie, which left out a lot of detail. Easy read that leaves you wondering.

Excellent, excellent book that definitely causes one to pause and really think about racism from another angle. Highly recommend.

I read through this book so quickly. I really liked it. It was an easy and enjoyable read.

What an amazing book! I think Kathryn Stockett gives voice to the numerous women who worked as "the help" for very little money, appreciation or recognition. Once you begin the book, you can't put it down! The book did not have a neat closed "The End." Instead, it allows each reader to question and think about what the future holds for each character.

I just loved this book. How could you not? I couldn't put it down. I would read at night, lunch break at work and any other opportunity I had. A wonderful read.

Great Book!

How could you not love this book! The characters are so real and full of depth. It is heartbreaking to know what "the help" had to go through back then, but this book was a great way of showing these strong women overcoming these obstacles to try and do something about it by telling their stories. I completely related to Skeeter. My only complaint was the ending - felt it was missing a little something. I can't wait to see the movie now!

Could not get enough of this book! Funny and heartwarming, just a wonderful read. I could read it over and over, and never get enough.

This book was written in a way that made you feel that you were part of the story. I cried and laughed with each character. Having family in Mississippi I could relate to the streets, the heat and the tension. This book is one of my favorites of all time.
