This book is a griping tale of the days gone by. So many of the books I connect with are written from the female voice. Reading a book with a male's voice as well as someone from a different generation was refreshing. The story like is dark in many places, but the underlying store of love keeps you turning the pages. Like many of the other remarks here, I felt the movie didnt develop the emotions near deep enough and the ringleader wasnt as slimy as I imagined him to be. However, any movie with Robert Pattinson is always worth seeing.

Good book, one that I wanted to keep reading (which is always a good sign). I liked it more in the beginning than I did by the end though.

A great story unfolds and it is a real page turner.

I was totally sucked into this book! It was very interesting to see the inside workings of a traveling circus. Good Job Sara Gruen!

What a wonderful read. I felt like this book brought me into the past. I could see the story line so vividly. I felt like I lived through the adventures.

Great book. Slow to get into but once you do, you can't put it down!!!! Looking forward to seeing the movie!

I loved this book. I have to say there were a few slow moments in the book. But I loved how I can feel the Circus atmosphere just by her writing! It was fun it feel it come alive.

A sad, romantic, beautifully-written book. It took a while to get into it, but it is worth the wait once the storyline picks up. It's narrated very lyrically and was hard to put down. Definitely read the book before seeing the movie, which is good but as often the case pales in comparison.

I really loved the book and the characters. It really brought to light the evil and abusive world of circuses both to animals and people. Thankfully Barnum is finally getting fined for their abuse of elephants. Maybe Finally they will became banned!!!

It was a great story! I really enjoyed the story. I think it would be a great read.

I read this book just as we were moving my elderly mother into assisted living. It especially touched me due to that coincidence. I haven't seen the movie, but the book is a great read.

I really enjoyed this novel, the author really has a way with description that paints a vivid picture of the story and setting.Fabulous quick read.

I really loved the book and even purchased one for a friend as a gift. The book was wonderful, but due to the animal abuse, I would not be able to see the movie.

i loved this book! the author creates a story that you can completely put yourself into.

I really enjoy reading american stories that teach me about the way things might've been. The author was kind enough to do a lot of research into the mysterious world of travelling circus' during the Great Depression. What a great (quick) read!
