I've used the Betty Crocker's Cookbook since I moved out on my own and started cooking (the 1988 version). I've tried different recipes here or there, but *always* come back to my "tried and true" Betty Crocker. As far as I'm concerned, this is by far the best book out there. The recipes in this book are so simple and classic and are perfect for the beginner as well as a "seasoned" cook. It's also got the charts in it for conversions, etc.

Ever since I was a little girl I can remember my mom using this cookbook with my sister and I to share her joy of cooking and baking. She got her cookbook in 1963 when my dad and her were married and it has been a staple in my family. Sadly, my mom died in 2003 right before I was married but I did get to keep her cookbook. It is definitely worn from all of the time it has been used but it is a cooking treasure. I actually bought my sister an updated version of this cookbook as one of her wedding shower presents because this is truly a classic and a must have for any kitchen. The absolute best recipe in this cookbook which I have been making for years is the "French Breakfast Morning Muffins!"

Who can live without this staple of a cookbook for their kitchen! I know I can't! I am not a very experienced chef and this one even has simple recipes for me! I love it!

I have the Betty Crocker cookbook since 1981 and I still use it to this day it has been so helpful for me especially the hints in the back of the book if you do not have certain ingrediants..measurement ..it's the best around all kitchens should not do without one...

My mother gave me a Betty Crocker cookbook when I was just starting out. This is a great kitchen staple for anyone just learning to cook, since the recipes are mostly home cooking style recipes, with clear instructions and ingredients that you can find in any supermarket. There are no advanced techniques required (although, if you know some, they will make the recipes better). The binder makes it easy to leave the book open to your recipe, and the book has held up very well over the years. And of course, the pictures are gorgeous. This would make a great housewarming present to anyone just starting out.

My mother-in-law gave me this cookbook. It has the common easy recipes that anyone can make. The family favorites, how to can food, how to make the sauces, and more! I love to cook and I love to read cook books. This older edition has been updated, but the original one is the best. She passed away in 1973 and would have been 100 years old this year. I hope to pass it on to a future daughter-in-law too!

When I got married in 1992 I had no clue how to cook. My mom gave me her original Betty Crocker cookbook from when she got married in 1961. The pages were worn and falling out but it really saved me. When I was in highschool I took 3 years of home economics which gave me the skills to read and understand a cookbook but it was Betty Crocker who gave me all the tricks and confidence to cook for my new husband. Years later I bought a new updated version of the same cookbook so I can hopefully pass it down to my kids and let them enjoy it as much as I did and still do.
