When I started playing World of Warcraft a few years ago, I had never played a mmo before. My husband played and encouraged me to try. I was quickly hooked, and before long we purchased another copy of the game so we could play together. We made great friends and mastered our classes. We had a great guild and finished most of the Burning Crusade before leaving WoW to try other games. No other mmos compared to WoW. I recently purchased Wrath of the Lich King (the latest expansion) and have been loving it. Like others have mentioned, this game is very addictive, I initially quit because I felt I was spending too much time playing. But it is also social, your game experience is better when you interact with others. One thing I really enjoy about WoW is how a group of strangers work toward a goal (usually killing a raid boss) and end up friends. This is the game that all other mmos are trying to copy.

I quit for a while due to loss of job and trying to save money, but I really enjoy this game. You really can decide how involved you want to be in the game. Just don't read the forums, they will have you convinced that every class is broken! Anyway, I've had fun with the game and I've met some really nice people, too.
