I couldn't get into this book. I was still stuck a little on the Twilight series. From reading the other reviews, I may have to pick it up again and try to read it. I do like Meyer's style of writing.

Don't be fooled, this is not another Twilight! I'm a fan of the Twilight series, but this was by far a much better read! I cannot wait for the movie!

I love this book so much I have read it multiple times since I bought it. It is so different from the twilight series which was awful. I feel like this book keeps your attention the entire time. It is very intense and I loved it .

Borrowed this book from my granddaughter who was not interested in it. It was very hard to get into, but just when I was going to quit reading it got surprisingly interesting. In fact, I couldn't put it down! Totally my type of book. Great storyline and super ending. I only wish it had piqued my interest from page one!! I would recommend this to a friend, but I would warn them to be prepared for a confusing intro.

Excellent. Im glad that it was different that vampires. This one is one of her best. Very different from Twilight Saga.

I was disappointed with this book, I didn't think it really got going until the very last chapter. I felt clostrophobic (sic) thoughout and I just didn't really care about the characters.

When I first read this book I must admit I was a little confused. I had to go back and start over a couple of times, but once I understood I feel in love with the book. I loved it. Stephanie Meyer is a talented author I definitely look forward to her next book.

I enjoyed this book. She does have a unique writing style but it did grab my attention . I found myself thinking about it while trying to accomplish other things throughout the day, so to me it gets 4 STARS!!!!

I thought this book was really hard to get into. I started reading after hearing all the students at our school talk about how great the Twilight Series was, so I picked the first one up and couldn't put it down. After finishing the series, I decided to try this book. It never really caught me and I found myself looking at other books to read.

This is a fantastic book. The story line keeps you interested and the ending is not disappointing.

I love her style of writing, I was hesitant with the whole idea of the storyline after being left starry eyed by Twilight but was not disappointed! Hoping for a sequel!

I have to say, I was more than pleasantly surprised with this story. After reading Twilight, I was hesitant to purchase this book because I worried it wouldn't hold a candle to Meyer's vampires. I was SO WRONG! Her characters in The Host are exceptionally thought out and portrayed, and the overall grim tone of the novel is set from the beginning of the first page. I was immediately drawn into this post-alien-invasion world, concerned for the humans who had been replaced. Yet as the story progressed, I fell in love with Wanderer. Looking at the world through her eyes, learning about love, loss, and human emotion through the experiences of a non-human really served as a means to evaluate one's own take on the world around them. After a slow start, I honestly couldn't put the book down. When I did have to put reading aside, I found myself eager to return to it at the first chance I got.

I agree with some very hard start to this book but worth it in the end!

The first few chapters were rough, but a realy good book overall.

i was really looking forward to the book and was soo excited when i got it..i was a little disappointed with the beginning b/c it was really hard to get into it...but then i really did get sucked into it. i thought overall the book was great..the rest of the story really made up for the delay in the beginning. i definitely will be recommending it.
