I have been using this for a few weeks now. Here are the things I really like: -Functions as a lamp also -Alarm sound is far less abrasive than typical alarm clocks, and a natural sound option is nice. -Gradual light and sound as alarm goes off. -Light helps with mood on dreary days. -Each time you turn the alarm on you must confirm the time it is set to go off. -I loaned it to my parents for a weekend, and father (who has 95% hearing loss) liked it and could hear the alarm and the light helped. It was nice for my mom because it is much less abrasive to wake up to than the traditionally blaring alarm he uses. -I like that the lamp must be shut off separately from the alarm (that way the room doesn't go dark again when you shut alarm off). Here are things I don't like: -The lamp has a buzzing noise when it is on (I have sensitive ears). -Is too large to fit on my nightstand along with my usual lamp. -The lamp light is good for waking up to, but I'm not a fan of it for reading or general lighting purposes. -The snooze/alarm off bar is frustrating. I'd like to see two separate buttons. I'm slightly dyslexic and even after several weeks I have to sit and think about which direction is off and which direction is snooze (this is potentially dangerous when you might shut it off by accident!) -The birds annoy my dog, so he starts groaning (although some might look at this as an added alarm bonus!) and they could have a more random pattern. Also would be nice to have other natural options to wake up to (rainforest? ocean?) -Design is nice and simple, but other colored options would be nice, as would a less bulky size. -I like that the lamp on/off button has a raised dot on it, though it could be even larger. It's really important when using this device to read the instruction booklet, because there are multiple buttons and the operation is quite a bit different from your average alarm clock. Overall, the advantage of this alarm is that is much more gradual and less abrasive than other alarm clocks. I gave it 3 stars due to difficulty with the off/snooze bar, bulky size, and buzzing lamp. I'd give it 5 if these things were improved. Otherwise - it's a great way to wake up!

It's easier and more enjoyable to wake up with Philips. Love the birds chirping - real, like the birds in a backyard garden! It took some efforts to set up the alarm though. Overall, it's delightful and refreshing, just hope that the design less bulky and more sleek. Nice product.

I've been trying it for a couple weeks now and I like it. I wish it were smaller and better looking so it would fit on my nightstand better, and I wish the directions were easier to follow and made more sense. Overall though, the light is helpful for waking me up gradually and on time, and the chirping birds are fun to wake up to!

I have to say I really like it. I am not at all a morning person and have had a hard time waking up for years. My husband hates it because I either have to be jolted out of bed by loud alarms or else he has to come and physically wake me. This of course I like and is a nicer way to wake up than blaring music or beeping. But, I'd been wanting to try to change my schedule to wake up a half hour earlier than I had been, and it just so happened that's when the Phillips light arrived! I've tried it with the birds, that was annoying...I kept hitting snooze. But the chimes or whatever they are I liked much better. With the holiday season and it's changed schedules it's been a challenge to really really test it. But, I've been using it on work days and it's growing on me. I knew it would take some getting used to...but I do believe it works. The bright light helps me start to wake, and while I do tend to just roll over...it start's the waking up process. I would generally recommend it however I only give it 3 stars because of the size and price point which I wouldn't have paid and my friends that are asking about it don't want to pay either.

Good product, not for me. I was so excited to try this product because I have heard such great things about it. I suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder as well as depression and I was hoping to be able to wake with more ease and feeling more rested, like I do during the summer months. (Of course that is when it is sunny. Which is not all the time in the Portland Oregon area.} I set the light as instructed to the highest setting and I used the birds sound to wake up by. While using this alarm I woke up feeling tired and I remained tired all day. I thought it was a fluke or that I was coming down with something because it happened several days in a row, on both weekend and week days. I went back to my other alarm and woke feeling rested the next morning. I did try this light again a few weeks later and I woke up just feeling exhausted. I am glad that this works so well for others and wish it worked for myself as well. I will definitely recommend this to my friends because I can still see the value in it for others. This product works exactly as described and is simple to program and use, it just doesn't leave me feeling rested or refreshed.

Overall, I like the Philips-Wake-up-Light. I wish the earlier settings were a little bit dimmer as it woke me up before the lighting was on high. It would be nice if when I turn the alarm off for that morning, it would reset and automatically be set for the next day. I am used to my Ipod waking me up and forgot to re-set the light one evening. It was easy to set up and overall l love the idea of waking up via light instead of an annoying alarm clock.

The Philips Wake Up Light is a really unique product. I like the alarm sounds and the fact that the light level can be adjusted. I use the light and the radio a lot in the evenings. My husband likes the gradual wake-up. However, neither the light nor the alarm wake me up. I'm a heavy sleeper and I've found that I need a loud, annoying, conventional alarm with a big snooze button to wake me.

I had a chance to try out hte Philips Wake up light and let me tell you, it is fantastic, it works well in so many ways and I can't believe I never had this around sooner. Now, I'm able to get up on time and get to work on time without another problem, besides traffic of course, which is uncontrollable, but with my sleep and waking up, I can finally control that and make it matter. Thanks for letting me test out this product.

The lamp is by far the best part of the whole design! The ability to adjust the brightness is wonderful! I love the lamp. I like that you can choose what sound you want to wake up to. I wouldn't say I'm sold on the product though. I don't really wake up to the alarm all the time. When I'm really tired I just sleep right through it. Soo....that's not good. I also believe the price is a little bit extreme for such a product and that's why I wouldn't recommend it to my friend.

Honestly, this product doesn't work for me because I've trained myself to go under the covers to block the light whenever I first notice it.. For anyone who is able to NOT do that, well, it might be a great product.

I'm very conflicted with this product. I'm a light-medium sleeper - as soon as the wake up light turned on (even at its dimmest setting), I woke up. Then I had a visual reminder for the next 15 minutes that I needed to get up soon. I'm one of those sleepers that appreciates every second of sleep, so to wake up early/gradually did not sit well with me. I tried adjusting the brightness, but that didn't help either. Also, I have a dog who would bounce with delight as soon as the light turned on. The last thing I wanted was yet another reminder that it was almost time to get up. Additionally, I find the design atrocious. It's large, bulky, and looks like something the 80s TV show "Out of this World" would use to communicate with aliens. I know, outdated reference, but its true! All that being said, I still use this system. I don't use the light wake up, but I LOVE the peaceful bird chirps that sound right at 6:16am (the exact time I've set it at.) And the radio alarm is functional and great as well. I do agree with a lot of the other reviews, figuring out how to set each alarm is mind-numbing. The buttons should be labeled better and it should be more intuitive to set. So, the big question is, would I recommend this to a friend? Maybe. I know, it's a cop-out answer, but there are some people that I think this would work really well for (medium-heavy sleepers) and people that this would not work well for (light sleeps, people with dogs.)

This product did nothing for me.

I tried the Philips Wake up Light but it is back in it's box. I could see this working better for someone who is single or maybe for a couple who wake up together at the same time but it does not work really work too good if one person has to wake earlier than the other. It can make for some really cranky mornings. Works nice as a light to read by and a radio. Maybe it is also the years of hitting that snoose button just one more time...

I am not a morning person either. I love to sleep and could roll over and go back to sleep all morning long. However, I need to be at work at 7:00 A.M. I often sleep with my curtins open so on the weekends I can wake up to the daylight when I want to get up. During the week it's dark when I need to get up. Currently I wake up to a rhythmic tone from my ITouch. It's not startling or loud. Usually I wake up before the alarm. That doesn't mean I want to get up though. I am a bit skeptical that I will feel any differently upon waking than I do currently. I just set up my Philips Wake Up Light today and am anxious to see how I feel this week upon waking each day.

i do not like this product. it was very hard to set up and the directions were useless. we did everything the directions said and certain things never worked. we could not set the radio even though we did as the directions said it just kept turning the area for it off. most the directions made zero sense. you have to reset it all the way if the elecric goes out which again is difficult. then i looked online on how to replace the bulb and it said you cant. you have to buy a hole new machine for 99 dollars when the bulb goes out. this also does not wake me up very well. this is a terrible product
