I didn't like this. I really, really tried to read it and it basically turned me off. It was not the sexual content that turned me off, it was the characters and the writing. If my boyfriend treated me the same was and ruled over me like Christian, I don't care how much money he had, I would be out the door. It was just too much for me to take. Sorry.

This book was awful! It was so poorly written. I had no problem with the sex scenes i just hated the main character. I could not relate to her in any way at all. I am sorry any college educated girl who was so smart never would have stuck around for him. Maybe if it was just the freaky sex but not with everything that went along with the pleasure. He was creepy

I want my money back. I'd heard how wonderful these books were and so I thought I'd see what the big fuss was about. I downloaded the first one to my Kindle and I really want my money back! I have no problem with sex scenes or erotica, but this book was so poorly written that it reminded me of a 15 year old boy's sex fantasy. The dialogue was awful. The book was predictable. Lots of sex? Sure, but I'm still trying to figure out what the big deal is about.

I too read this because of all the hype. It's a sad state of affairs when a book this poorly written, redundant, and ridiculous becomes this popular. I read the first one and that was enough to make not want to read any of her books after that. I read a lot of various genres including erotica and there are plenty of books out there that have more substance, fluent writing, and more descriptive scenes. It's too bad that so many people consider this great literature.

Got first chapter fee on e-reader read half way into it and wondered how it was even published. The writing was worse in description and flow than the worst fanfic I've ever read. P.S. I'm a picky reader like challenge vocabulary.

I was really curious about this book because of all the popular hype so I read it. It was really painful and terrible. I have nothing against the sex scenes but the writing was atrocious. I felt like I was reading some teenager girl's diary on her wildest fantasy and dream. The language was repetitive "Jeez", "Oh my", etc etc and it wasn't very original. It was basically Twilight with lots of sex. I also don't understand why it's so popular when there are other better written erotica novels out there. I started reading the second book of the trilogy and it's much better than the first. At least it doesn't put me to sleep like the first book!

First, let me say that I am an avid reader. I read any and everything and I never start a book and don't finish ... until now. I just could not get into this book and halfway through it felt like more of a chore than anything enjoyable. I am still slowly trucking along but honestly after about 3 pages I stop concentrating. To me the plot is not at all captivating. This book does not hold my interest at all.

I can't believe a publishing company put this out! I'm sure the twilight crowd will love this drivel, reads like it was written by a teenager. complete waste of my time, good use as kindling or toilet paper.

I'm sorry but I'm going to keep saying the same thing I have on every review of the Fifty Shades of Grey stories. While I had extremely excited about reading the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. And had heard extremely good things about the stories from people. I have to say I was extremely disappointed in the stories all together. First of all the way the stories were written was very juvenile to me. I even had to look the author to find out how old the author was. Because I felt as if the story was being written by a teenager. There were also a ton of typos in the stories. Second of all, through out all 3 stories they became very repetitive to me. I have no problem reading Erotica and BDSM books, there are some very good Erotica and BDSM books out there. But I feel if your going to write a certain area THAN you must do your research on the area. I have read better written Erotica and BSDM books for free. Anastasia was a very weak character and than there's only so many times you can read about a character biting there bottom lip. And if I could give this NO stars than I would do that

I really feel that this series is really lacking. Thankfully I only borrowed the book from someone instead of purchasing it myself. I kept skipping paragraphs and pages HOPING that it would get better, but honestly, for me, the book was not worth the hype.

Thought it was okay - there are so many better stories, including Erotica, in the fan fic world based on the Twilight movie. I read them because once I start, I like to finish, but the writing was poor and as with Bella - Anastasia would drive me bonkers at time. But, I understand that for many this is the first time they have seen this and they really enjoyed it - just not me!

I don't know what to say about the current generation if they think this is good literature. If you're looking for a good book, try reading anything by Jodi Picoult instead.

I finally had to succumb to the peer pressure and give this book a try. I really tried to like it, and I will say that I did at first. However, the honeymoon period soon came to an end. The steamy sex was intriguing at first, but soon became repetitive and even boring, not to mention completely unbelievable. The female main character is so meek and innocent, not to mention totally obsessed with Mr. Gray that it started to get on my nerves. Needless to say I was definitely disappointed in this book.

I am one of the few people who did not like this book. It was very poorly written. The story line was weak. There was nothing sexy or interesting about it. Grey was a possessive control freak. What's so sexy about that. It was one of the most poorly written books that I've read in a long time.

50 shades books are o.k. I am not one to read books like this but after all of the shades of gray talk, I needed to know what the big deal was. The writing itself is sub-par. It is the steamy sex scenes that grabbed everyone's attention and even those get old quickly. This book boils down to a woman who becomes submissive to a controlling man...BLAH. At first the intense sex situations will intrigue you and then become entirely too predictable...
