This is an amazing novel based on the true ordeal of Mary Ingles. Mary Ingles was 23, happily married, pregnant with her third child when Shawnee Indians invaded her Virginia settlement in 1755 and kidnapped her, leaving behind a bloody massacre. For months they held her captive. With the rushing Ohio River as her guide, she walked 1000 miles to return to the comfort of her own people. This is a book you will not be able to put down. They followed up with a movie that doesn't do it justice.

This book is hard to put down . A very interesting read about an Amazing lady! The author really did his research. A truly incredible journey.
