The Encounter by Stephen Arterburn To tell you the truth I thought this book was not going to be one bit interesting but I was pleasantly surprised. It is a short read so it took no time to finish. I liked it alot. To summarize the book it is about a man that is adopted at a young age after his mother decides she could no longer care for him.He grows up with an intense hate for his birth mother that begins to erode away at his life.So he is sent to his birthplace for answers and for closure. While he is trying to understand why his birth mother could do such a thing. We fast forward to his mother who has had a life of struggles herself. While he thought that she no longer loved him based on their past together he soon realizes it is quite the opposite. She is so ashamed of herself and what she has done that even though she knows exactly who is and where to find him she can not bring herself to face him. After he realizes who she is he believes he won't be able to face her either. But God helps them both in this book about love and forgiveness. And teaches them both how to depend on Him to achieve just that. I was provided with this book for free for my unbiased review through the Thomas Nelson Booksneeze Program.
