These are handy for retrieving toast stuck just below your reach in the toaster. They also turn bacon in nonstick pans, can be stored in your utensil crock by inserting one "tine" in and one out, thereby using less room within if you are getting short on crock space, and they have entertain folks by being used to pick your nose. Or your friend's nose. Wait, I have that wrong - how's that saying go? You can pick your friends, or you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friends' nose? Anyway, I digress. These tongs are good for about only those tasks. Not much more. They are too thin and tiny for much else. Alton Brown would not have them in his kitchen, since they are so limited in scope and there are better multitaskers out there.

This is not a perfect tool for removing stuck toast or bagels from a toaster, but it does help a fair amount. Our toaster is supposed to accommodate bagels, and it sort of does, but most seem too wide to fit, so this tools helps with that. It's a gadget that we stick on the toaster itself, so it really doesn't add to the utensil clutter in my kitchen drawer, which is also nice.

THESE ARE REALLY GREAT FOR KIDS WHO FIX THEIR OWN TOAST. NO MORE ACCIDENTAL BURNS....

If you have a child that wants to become independent these are a must have. Hang them over the edge of your utensil canister, or toss in a drawer near the toaster. My 7 year old daughter uses them to take out her Toaster Strudel. These are a bit long for small hands/younger children, which is the only downfall. A smaller pair would be great. The most simple utensil/gadget ever but so worth it. It makes me feel better about her using the toaster for after school snacks or a quick breakfast knowing she won't be poking a fork or knife in the toaster when I'm not looking. She is less likely to burn herself on the toaster or hot toast.
