I really enjoyed reading this book. Charlie, the main character, is different from the typical urban fantasy heroine. She has a ex-husband and a daughter, who plays a significant part in the book. Charlie is a much better heroine than Anita Blake and Rachel Morgan. This girl is tough, no whiners here! Charlie works on a police task force and is raising a daughter. She still has feelings for her ex-husband who feels the same, but she can't get past his betrayals. Meanwhile, there is a dangerous drug on the streets and there several mythical creatures gunning for Charlie. Did I mention that this girl is tough? She knows how to fight, drives stick and keeps going despite being in real bad shape. By the way, she was also brought back from the dead. I strongly suggest reading this book. It does not have one dull moment.
