The Procedure Wednesday I went to the dentist's office and was setup with the dental assistant. First she went over my teeth to remove and plaque or residue to have a clean tooth surface to apply the zoom gel. They put something on my gums to protect them from the gel. It felt like rubber, but it was a gel that was in a tube that some how harded under light. They proped my mouth open with something that made me look like a screamer - no really an actaual person screaming. Anyway I'm sure its so I couldn't munch on a finger while they were doing my whitening either way it made napping easy since I didn't have to even bother holding my mouth open. Next, they applied the gel, did the zoom lamp (15 min), and then they wiped off the gel, and applied more gel. They did this a total of 4 times. So, overall, it took about an hour and a half before I had my whiter smile. I could tell my teeth were sensitive upon leaving but the fact that they were four shades lighter made that part not as noticeable. After I left? Shortly after leaving the dentist I started getting these painful ?zings?. Not like ouch my teeth are sensitive its like oh holy hell I have exposed nerves all over my mouth please just shoot me and get it over with bad. I popped two aspirin ? no relief. Two hours later I had a beer since my mouth hurt way to much to eat and this girl needed carbs. I still hadn't eatten lunch or dinner and by now it was 7:30. One hour later still in pain, I gave up and took one of hubs left over hydrocodone. I know its bad but its better than being in pain - Slap my wrist if you must. Finally at 9:30 the pain stopped or I went into a coma either way I woke up this morning just fine with pretty white teeth. Would I do it again? That's a BIG Maybe. Right now my teeth are shiny white and I am not crazy about pain. But I also know that old saying must hold some truth ?no pain no gain? although I'm not that vain (do I get extra points for it rhyming?) and knowing it hurt me might make me put the brakes on it. Although the treatment does work and those zings I told you about only happen to some people ? I guess I'm just lucky. The Cost? Mine was about $300 total. I'm sure it varies depending on where you go, I just used my regular dentist office. So tell me: Have you done Zoom or any other whitening treatment?
