Using a sling to take a shower with your baby is a GREAT idea,especially if you're really working on the principle of skin to skin contact. I'd much rather go with a ring sling for this than a pouch though. Especially if the fabric is going to be constantly wet and you're trying to put your little one in cradle position. Safety fears here? Yep.
