Do you have a community of women who support each other? What do they do? Tell us about it!

Some women I know who are supportive of one another because they encourage each other but others are just competitive against one another.

I think most women are supportive of each other but I have seen some in the work place that are not.

I think it depends on the area in which women may or may not support women. I think the culture has changed a lot since I was growing up. In politics I feel that women are not as supportive of women as they could be. For one reason, I dont think many women feel that a woman could be the leader of the free world even though there have been many women leaders of other countries. I think women are supportive of other women when it comes to family matters, such as kids, babies, home life and if there is abuse in a marriage. When I was working, I found that women supported and favored men over other women. I was highly educated and most of the time was better qualified, however, I was often overlooked for a promotion. Even within my own family, my parents supported my older brothers, giving them more, whether is be money, paying for their college, buying them things, etc. I was the much younger sibling with 3 older siblings. I feel that we still have a long way to go.

I started a instant messenger communication group for me and my 5 girlfriends. I named it “ladies” and we all communicate through this and we all have found it very useful and so effective as we go through our days. We all type and talk and everyone sees everything that is being written. It’s a great way for us all to stay connected through these crazy times.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't necessarily say I have a "community." I do have my wonderful circle of friends, but it is very small. However, I feel like the isolation I feel is likely 100% intentionally created by patriarchy which is inherently controlling and surrounds itself with sycophants. As garbage as a lot of the internet is, it's lifted such a huge weight from my chest to see and find what other communities (of women?) are doing and that they exist! And that I would/could be so lucky to be part of that if I'm not kind of, tangentally already 😅

Most women I know support each other but some feel the need to ridicule or go to extreme measures which otherwise they would not.. Just have to be careful to choose wisely.

My younger sister and I were raised by my mom. She raised us to be independent, strong, and to support other women. Since she passed away and my sister moved 20 hours away, I do not have much or a support system. Though I do have a fabulous group of ladies online that are very supportive of me. The encourage, inspire, and motivate me. A few of them are the reason that I joined the fabulous SheSpeaks community!

Not really. My mom is the only one who really supports me. Most little groups or clicks are already formed by the time you reach adulthood. Besides the fact that with all that is going on in the world it is too easy for people to get offended and drop you from the friend list because they take an opposite side than you do.

Why can't we just all work together and get along.

That is actually a really good idea.
