I've always told my child to rise above the chaos, try not to let all the drama of the world swallow him up. Be true to himself no matter what, if other's don't believe the same way then that becomes their problem not his.

My Mom always reassured me that it was okay to like different things and to not want to be like everyone else. It is more interesting to follow your unique interests and personal style.

To be honest and never lie. Respect each other and once you respect that's when you will expect a respect back from someone. Even not always you will get a respect back you still have to be yourself and that will pay off one day.

My mom always conveyed that independence was important. She and my dad are still happily married, but she was always sent the message that I should strive to be strong on my own and not become too dependent on a partner. I really appreciate that.

My mom told me right up front that life wasn't going to be fair and that I needed to deal with it. Not only did I teach my son that but we all still laugh about the truth of it today and that the fair (Florida State Fair) only comes once a year in February.

My mom taught me to be strong, independent and to try and find a solution to a problem instead of just asking formhelp the moment I get stuck. She also raised me in a way that I would be able to live when she was gone. I also encourage my kids to find a solution to their problem before asking for the solution. If they truly can't think of one then I will help. I'm also preparing them for a life where they can be independent and strong in who they are.

Mom taught me to be diligent and persevere even in tough times. She didn't let me give up on school projects when I was struggling to do them.
