What have you done to make a positive influence online? What have you seen others do? What else can be done?

I don't think positive reinforcement should be limited to women. I've seen plenty of men be degraded and harassed on social media. My response to people who post derogatory comments to me is no response at all. That is the quickest diffuser of most situations like that. Those who post such comments are usually looking to stir up trouble. If they can't get a rise out of you, they'll move on.

I am guilty of saying a smart comment back to someone who says nasty or mean things to others but in my experience that just seems to egg them on,then they just start insulting me.

I am a strong believer and activists when it comes to exhorting others. A couple kind words goes so much further than we may ever know. I've seen more people spreading love but sadly negative bullying increases with that. Just keep fighting the good fight ladies.

I think responding to the person being harassed with positivity and love is the best way to approach hateful and mean comments. Responding to the person doing the harassing only makes them feel important and heard when that's the opposite of what they should feel. I agree with the others here - there's too much hate going on nowadays so instead of even acknowledging the hurtful comments, I think its better to just respond in love to counter it.

I always try to say something positive and if I disagree with someone I try to do so respectfully.

Accept that not everyone feels the same way about the subject as you do and be open to other opinions. I keep seeing that women think that because certain issues are predominantly women issues that men cannot comment on them or if a man says something against a woman it automatically wrong. Why can't people think for themselves and stop jumping to join the crowd, be yourself , be an individual. I also don't like the movement to only be positive, in the real world you have people who don't think like you, not everyone is the same and we should accept differences.

I think we need to tell people when they are out of line, being ugly, it is bad form to lose their temper and rage at others .People get so caught up in "being right", their singular opinion or fear is the only one that is correct in their mind. They won't just listen or accept other people have a right to their opinion. Look at Donald Trump and the spitefulness, hate, belittling of others that spews from his mouth and there is this large mass of angry people who like that...................
