My slow cooker is wonderful for my busy schedule. I prepare the vegetables and a roast put into the crock pot when I leave for work and when we all get home dinner is done and the house smells wonderful.

My crock pot has four settings, 4 hours high, 6 hours high, 8 hours low, 10 hours low. Not sure what the temp setting is on that. Sorry!

I have several! All are Rival and I love them all. The first one I got over 25 years ago and it still works great... though it doesn't have removable insert like the newer ones. I have a 2 year old one that I love and also a large one that is great for cooking a whole turkey breast for fantastic shredded turkey sandwiches for a crowd.

Cooked a turkey breast for Christmas day in my slowcooker. I placed it meat side down, and it was so moist!!! Sometimes I mix a can of whole cranberry sauce with an envelope of onion soup mix and a small amount of orange juice (just enough to thin it a little) and pour that over either a turkey breast or chicken breasts. Cooked on low all day it tastes like a Thanksgiving dinner!

I know what you mean. I have bought new ones for two of my daughters-in-law that were programable and oval. Quite a difference from the ones I bought over 30 years ago. I bought myself the one with three different sizes of bowls. It's a great idea, especially when I'm cooking for just the two of us, but a storage problem. Takes up too much room in my cupboard.

I use my slow cooker to make my own yogurt....SO MUCH healthier than the ready made stuff! Here is my tutorial http://iblamemom.blogspot.com/2011/01/make-your-own-yogurt-in-your-crock-pot.html

What's the best size slow cooker to get? I just bought a 5 quart one but I'm thinking I might want a bigger one? What's the opinion out there?

Hmm. Looks like I will need to look into more recipes. So far I've just used my crockpot to heat up frozen pulled pork and cook a bunch of chicken breasts. I'm a totally newbie but am looking forward to getting better use out of my crockpot.

I too LOVE my crockpot so much. I have this crockpot book that I have been going through and seeing what recipes we like - I give star ratings of 1 to 5. And write it right in the book, so when we turn there we can see oh we really liked that one. I panicked a bit when my husband suggested writing in the book. I said writing in the book? NO. lol But it does work wonderful and shows we are trying stuff in it. lol
