I need to find an excellent red wine to serve at a formal tea. Most of the attendees prefer a desert wine, but The menu is a variety of finger sandwiches, and several tables of deserts. I'm not a wine expert and could use anyone's suggestion . thank you

http://www.flipflopwines.com/wines/ flipflop wines has a sweet red...all their wine is really good...and you can't beat the price. Check Vons because you can get an extra 10% off when you buy 6!

My every-day table red is Menage a Trois - a combo of zinfandel, cabernet and merlot grapes. I second the note made earlier about going to a wine store with a decent selection and indicating what the wine will be served with and also indicating a price-point so you don't have "sticker shock"!

Lambrusco wine from Riunite is a great tasting red wine, love this wine it's full bodied and goes with many dishes, serve chilled and is affordable even for the larger bottle usually about eighteen dollars. And if you want a wine that is lighter but a very good Zinfandel try Berringer pink or white are both great fruity and light and not expensive, this wine can usually be had for about ten dollars

You can't go wrong with a Pinot Noir, it is enjoyed by most and a good stepping stone for those that are still trying to acquire the taste.

I'm not a wine connoiseur, and not really sure what you're looking for, but I tasted a red wine this weekend that was delicious. It's called Red Decadence Dark Chocolate. It tastes like a red wine when it first hits your lips, then has this taste of dark chocolate.

if the really like dessert wines, get some stella rosa, it's and inexpensive sweet frizzante so it has some bubble. A good way to go for a mellow red that most people would like would be a beaujolais or beaujolais nouveau. It's a younger wine, so it hasn't developed the tanins that most sweet wine drinkers don't like, another good, mellow wine that a wide spectrum of people like is merlot and pinot noir. Pinot is a picky grape though, so make sure you get something from a coastal area.

Stella Rosa http://stellarosawines.com/ is one of my favorites. Everyone I know loves it and requests it. It goes great with appetizers and desserts. It is more on the sweeter side. There are both reds and whites.
