I need to find an excellent red wine to serve at a formal tea. Most of the attendees prefer a desert wine, but The menu is a variety of finger sandwiches, and several tables of deserts. I'm not a wine expert and could use anyone's suggestion . thank you

You might also try an ice wine, they come red and white, are sweet and a great dessert wine. To lighten them up you could ad some sparking wine, Prosecco is a good choice.

I recently tried a muscato wine. This is a smooth wine that is not dry, but not a very sweet wine. It comes in red or white. Both aree very good

I would offer a dry and semi-sweet wine. Also, a good port is great!

Oregon Blossom is a nice blush wine and a really nice sweet white is Santo Moscato D'Asti. I would like info on a sweet red wine myself.

Menage a Trois Merlot and Syrah is good, not too expensive. Also 7 Deadly Zins is a nice blended wine and tastes really good, not as dry and a little sweet so it would go well. Again, not very expensive.

I stumbled across a sweet red wine that is fantastic. It is truly something that can be served as a desert wine. It is a chocolate red wine that is utterly fantatic: http://preceptwinebrands.com/our_wines/brands/000000045/chocolate_shop I found mine at the local grocery store. Inexpensive but really yummy and qutie a conversation starter.

I love Sutter Home Moscato! It's cheap, but delicious! Looking for a fancier dessert wine? Try Vino Dei Fratelli Moscato D'Asti. It's more expensive, however worth every penny. I'm not as knowledgeable about reds. Ports are sweeter, but STRONG. I think Sutter Home has a "Sweet Red" table wine.

FuturemrsA 2012 made a great suggestion. This one is not too dry as many reds can be. I could give a lengthy list if whites, but I have only been drinking red for the past year for the reduced sugar content and other health benefits.
