Many of us get involved in a myriad of ways in our local, school or online communities. How do you choose where and how to get involved?

I don't because sometimes I find there is a click of people who gossip tremendously and if you join, you don't really get any input, it's just follow the leader.

I am very involved in my kids schools and in their various sports they play. I am at the school a lot volunteering to do all kinds of different things that need to be done.

I'm glad you volunteer there instead of just donating food; your time and effort really does help.

For many years I have been a volunteer for The Salvation Army, local ceremonies, a military family support group, and a high school scholarship committee.

I work at a DayCare/Preschool on the not-so-fortunate side of town. Several of our kids come to school hungry every morning, but while they are at school, we take care of them the best we can. And being around them every day, I can see which families have needs when they have those needs, and I can quickly provide for them. These kids are so precious, and they should be taken care of.

Hi, right now I'm going to be helping the service families in my community, also they are asking people to make Christmas cards for our servicemen, I don't know if I am allowed to put the website here or not. Guess I should read the rules hehe. If I can I will because I think it's a great way to give back to the brave men and women who are protecting our Freedom. :) There families back home go through alot and I think it's an awesome way to show them we care.

I serve on the board of directors of a 501c3 charity that serves East TN's foster families - Foster & Adoptive Family Connection. We provide new undergarments and new and gently used clothing, toys, books, school supplies, etc. to children entering foster care of either gender from birth to 18 years of age. We are completely dependent on the generosity of our community thus far and there are no paid staff members at this time.

In addition to the above mentioned, I volunteer every Tuesday and the local elementary school in the library. Duties include shelving books, checking in books, maintaining order and best of all, reading to the children who come in for class. I am also the PTA coordinator for the Kindergarten classes and a room mom.
