Horrible Acne!

My daughter is twelve years old, almost thirteen and she has moderate acne on her t-zone. We are looking for a regimen that actually works. We have tried some Neutrogena products but it made her face really dry and flaky. We also tried Clean & Clear which we used for three months and did not help at all. Any suggestions? I am soon going to try Noxzema products but I need reviews first. Thanks!

As a mom of 3 girls if it is sever no over the counter will work. #1 we tried over the counter and Proactiv but nothing worked and as soon as it started on her body we went straight to the Dr. she had to be put on antibiotics to clear it up we are still going to the Dr. #2 has break outs like all teens, but we stopped harsh soaps and moisturize everyday. We have found that CeraVe is a Great produce, on the high end as far as price but well worth every penny. The moisturizer in the jar is wonderful!! Hard to find RiteAid, CVS and Walgreen's carries it but it is sometimes behind the counter. #3 so far so good she might be the lucky one and not have a problem. So again if it is just a break out here and there use over the counter, but if it is BAD get her to a dermatologist

Try Acneefree for sensitive skin. It's a kit you youcan find at Wal-Mart, Tararget , or any pharmacy. It's only about $17. It comes with a teatree cleanser, moisterizer, and a special lotion you put directly on the pimple. They also have the origial formula and one for severe acne. I love this kit I tried many products even Proactive, but nothing worked. I would encourage you to try it,I saw results on the first day. It is also very important that she follows a daily routine. Sometimes products don't work becuse we are not consistant. Hope you try it, good luck.

ProActiv is the way to go! I have a 14 year old step-daughter who was prone to acne on her cheeks real bad and ProActiv cleared it up. In fact, I use it as well when I have occasional breakouts. It is well worth the price...just don't get sucked into the "send it on a monthly basis" gimmick. Buy it only as you need it because you will run out of some of it quicker than others. Highly recommend this product.

I had acne all through my teenage years and then I started taking bee pollen pills because someone gave a speech on natural vitamins when I was 19 years old. My acne seemed to clear up almost immediately. I was amazed because I've tried all kinds of products all through my teen years and nothing EVER worked. Now I only get very occasional break outs, but they aren't nearly as bad as what they used to be. So if your daughter isn't allergic to bees, have her take bee pollen, you can get it at any store that carries vitamins and they are so much cheaper than other acne fighting products.

My sister dealt with this, at a little later age, but it sounds similar. It could be something she'll grow out of, so it's definitely something you'll want to talk with the doc about. What I did for my sister was put her on the regimen I had success with - I wash my face in the morning with any cheapo mild cleanser and a warm washcloth. Then I put on a low dose antibiotic cream across the area, just a really thin layer, and no makeup! I know it's hard, but it really does the skin no good. Then I cleansed my face again at noon, but just with a warm wash cloth, no soap, and at night used a wet washcloth and applied acne cream. It worked for both me and my sister, so even though it's three times a day, it's worth the upkeep for us! I hope it helped!

Proactive isnt for every body but have you gone to her dermatologist? see what she really needs before you go on spending money on products that may work or not. everybodys skin is differents and everybodys body acts differently.

I haven't read all the responses yet, but I would have to say that Proactiv is THE BEST acne medicine that my family has ever used. My daughter is almost 12 and was getting terrible breakouts. I ordered Proactiv and within the first week we could tell a difference and 5-6 weeks after her first use she was acne free! Completely! She still uses it daily to prevent breakouts but it honestly saved her skin...and her self esteem! I would recommend it to anyone.
