Horrible Acne!

My daughter is twelve years old, almost thirteen and she has moderate acne on her t-zone. We are looking for a regimen that actually works. We have tried some Neutrogena products but it made her face really dry and flaky. We also tried Clean & Clear which we used for three months and did not help at all. Any suggestions? I am soon going to try Noxzema products but I need reviews first. Thanks!

I'm 23 and I've had moderate acne since 8th grade. My skin is very oily and I've learned (after trying almost everything) that most products would cause my skin to produce more oil because it would dry it out. The only face wash I have ever found to work for me is Biore. I have tried proactiv before but I've also learned that I can't use benzoyl peroxide and that I need to use salicylic acid based products. It also helps to know why you are getting the acne. I would get cyst like acne during that time of the month (most common reason for cystic acne is hormones) and then the other acne (I like to call it common acne lol) was because of the oil based make up I was using and then the harsh face wash. Everyone is different and you have to figure out what works for you with trial and error. But you can get ideas on what to try first by talking to other people. That's what I did, and now I have people asking me how I cleared up my acne.

I am Aloette Skin care consultant. Our company uses organic, paraben free aloe vera in its products. Our skin care line is pharmaceutical grade, is non damaging and non drying, even for the most sensitive skin. I was a proactive user for years. It wasn't until I found Aloette that my skin actually changed. My pores have reduced by more than half their size and I no longer have excessive oil. I even posted a picture of myself without makeup for the first time ever. I'm the type of person that doesn't go to the mail box without makeup on. I'm not vain, my skin was always that bad. I would love to help you! My website is www.ashleysaloette.weebly.com I have testimonials and before and after pictures as well. Let me know if you have any questions!

There are two separate components used to clear Acne Benzoyl and Salic Acid (sorry if I don't spell these right). From my experience I have learned to never use both at the same time because it will cause irritation, itching and dry/scaly skin. I believe Benzoyl is a little more stronger than Salic Acid from my experience I tried Benzoyl 5% and 2% and it irritated my face. So I moved to Salic Acid and have been using it ever since. The washes I like to use are from Neutrogena I tend to change between Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power-Cream Wash and Oil-Free Acne Wash Daily Scrub. My skin tends to get dry at times for that she will need a good Non-Comedogenic (wont clog pores) moisturizer the one I use and love is Olay complete Combination with SPF 15 they also have it for sensitive skin oily and so on. If she uses foundation she will need to find something that is Non-Comedogenic as well I use Revlon Colorstay.

Proactiv is great! I used it as a teenager with good results as well as after I had my first child and my skin was a hormonal mess. I buy my Practiv on Amazon and don't have to worry about "joining" and receiving automatic shipments through the company. I only use the products once per day which also makes it last longer and keeps my skin from drying out too much!

Thank you all for these great suggestions! ProActiv has never worked for me, but I am excited to try a few new suggestions here.

I've had acne since I was really young, about 9 or 10... so it's been about 9 years. I finally just caved and went to the dermatologist because nothing OTC would work for me and would just make my acne flare up worse & cause incredibly dry skin. I was on Solodyn for about a year and a half, along with Differin gel. My face has never been so clear and I rarely ever get breakouts anymore, so maybe it's best to see a professional if you can't find anything otc to work?

I am sharing my experience. Gently cleanse my face every night and follow up with Pure Chimp Super Cream. Eat whole grains, vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds and lean meat most of the time. Cut out sugar and dairy. I found this easy. Just started using fructose & honey to sweeten things. Cut down on masturbating. Crazy I know but this genuinely helps.
