Horrible Acne!

My daughter is twelve years old, almost thirteen and she has moderate acne on her t-zone. We are looking for a regimen that actually works. We have tried some Neutrogena products but it made her face really dry and flaky. We also tried Clean & Clear which we used for three months and did not help at all. Any suggestions? I am soon going to try Noxzema products but I need reviews first. Thanks!

I went through the same thing when I was that age. I saw a dermatologist that prescribed a topical and pill medication- worst mistake ever! They stain your teeth and create unbelievable dry skin. What I found that worked best for me was tanning. (As the UV rays dry out and heal acne) Obviously with that you are exposing other risks, so if your not comfortable with that treatment I would recommend the Zeno heat treatment acne device. (Which does the job of UV rays in smaller doses) If you shop in the right place you can find them relatively inexpensive. Hope this helps!!! (:

I can relate to your daughters pain both physically and emotionally ! Believe it or not I had acne up until about a year ago (I'm 35) when I had a hysterectomy and my acne cleared completely.. I did however have a REALLY bad flair up on my shoulder (a first ever) I was prescribed meds both oral , and topical from a dermatologist and it cleared in about a week. Also you may consider the shampoo/ conditioner she is using as I later found out that was what broke me out .. I am happy to say NO more problem acne! When I DID have it I found the best products to be Biore (found in most stores) just be aware that scrubbing or over drying the skin with products such as benzoyl peroxide will actually make it worse. If you are looking for something more natural try using Tea Tree Oil!

Dermatologist. I had horrible acne forever and still at 34 I am super oily and go to my derm once a year. Those products work and some people need the extra help to get them through the horrible hump of puberty acne!

I used to have acne. Coconut oil cleared that right up.

I've heard proactive does what it promises, but can be a hassle to unsubscribe from. Google proactive, complaints. You'll see what I mean. You would probably have better luck using a prepaid debit card. Just my two cents...

I am 28 years old and have suffered with acne since I hit puberty. I have gone to the dermtaologist more times that i can count of. What worked great for me (when insurances would cover it) was Chemical peels. I know they are kind of harsh but the results were amazing (glycolic/Alpha hydroxy peels). I went to the derm this year and the only thing that helped my skin was antibiotics! Which of course is not good for you but I had to keep switching up so my body would not get immune. I stopped taking it and I am back to straight one - not as bad but still break out. Unfortunately my acne is hormonal. I have found that Lancome's Vissionnaire works awesome on my skin. My dark spots have faded and my blemishes are less noticeable. I am also breaking out less. I guess those expensive brands do work...
