A brand new car or a handbag?

You may be shaking your head in disbelief, but the latest "it" bag called Louis Vuitton Tribute Patchwork Bag retails for $45, 352. Why is this bag as expensive as a new car? It does feature a gold chain handle, but the real reason for the high price is that it's made up of samples of 15 different Louis Vuitton Handbags from the LV spring/summer and cruise lines. If you want one of these bags, you have to get in line?. There will only be a limited number being made and the fashionista's tell us there's already a long waiting list!

A more affordable and equally sought after “it” bag is the enviro-stylish re-usable shopping bag by top UK designer Anya Hindmarch. It sold out in the UK in minutes. The tote officially named “I’m Not A Plastic Bag” is made from cotton, not plastic and so far only sold in the UK. The company promises to have more in stock in mid- April and they will also be sold, again in limited quantities and colors, in other countries this summer.

If you had the money would you prefer the environmentally friendly and inexpensive bag or the Louis Vuitton?

Give me a BREAK!!  This has to be the ugliest bag I have ever seen!  I would never buy a handbag for that price!!  I would use the 45,000 for my daughters college fund.

Looks like the designer couldn't decide on this seasons look so he pieced together the past 12 seasons into one bag?!?! Interesting approach.

That is the ugliest bag I have seen in a long time.  I own a Speedy bag already, so I do enjoy designer purses, but this one is awful.  I'd go for the earth-friendly bag

We lost Kurt Vonnegut today and as sad as I am to lose such a voice I am sure he laughed his ass off over this bag. It proves so many points he has had about society.

We are still a society of the rediculous. The "Jones" will always buy a bag like this just because. If you handed then a pile of poop and told them it was the rarest poop on earth and for a bargain price of $50,000 and plop. Each pile would be gone and placed under glass in many homes fast.

These things, so some rich think, seperate them from the rest of us. If they saw this bag with a mere $500 dollar price tag by a nobody I bet the comments would be "What an ugly bag. Who would buy that thing?".  The people at Louis Vuitton proved a point for us all. They have a "name". They can creat crap and sell it for any amount they want and it will sell due to that name.

Status symbols will, unfortunately not die. I think it's funny that the few that got these bags are walking around with something so ugly, so crummy and they were probably duped by LV just to see how far they could go.

I don't find the bag great looking at all but I do think everyone should by what he or she wants no matter what the price. I buy "IT' bags all the time and I know later on when I have kids I wont be spending all this money on myself so might as well spoil myself while I can.

Anyway I think the bag is pretty darn expensive but I know that LV didn't design the bag with someone like myself in mind because let's see I'm a regular American that can't dispense that kind of money on a bag that will only be used for a season. I'm sure all they thought about when they priced and made this bag was about celebs and other rich people trying to outdo and out show each other not only because the bag alone tells others how much the person spent on the bag but also because it’s a limited edition bag and not just anyone can get their hands on one.

How very sad this all is.  We are killing our world and maybe its just as well, if this sort of thing speaks for humanity as a whole.

I could never pay this much for a bag. I can't even commit to letting my husband spend that much on his dream car! I wish I had that kind of money, but I still don't think I would spend that much money on something that hangs out on the floor the majority of the time. I will take the knock-off version any day. I'm not trying to make up for anything I don't have by displaying how much money I have to spend on materialistic things.

I'd rather fix up my house with that kind of money, or donate to a worthy cause...I'll stick to my cheaper little cute purses.

while I probally won't ever be able to afford this, I think that LV can do whatever they want & sell their bag for how ever much they can get for it....I love america!

Hello.  Actually, knowing that there is a method to everyone's madness,my first thought was, why,is Louis Vitton charging so high a price? Is it their ultimate intention to raise funds for a charity of some kind? Are they (secretly)going bankrupt, and truly need an outrageous amount of money to come back out of the red?Has there been a coorparate takeover,so they need the money to fight? What, are we consumers supposed to think of such a simply ludicrous request?Such rediculous requests have been known to be the iminent ruination of companies past, and so very long forgotten.Such a company does not speak to,or for me,or my family.Bon voy-ahh-gee,baby!I'm ALL for the environment!

I could never pay this much for a bag even if it were pure gold.  It is ridiculous to waste money just because of a name....Some people just have way to much money and time.

Oh My, you know this brought up memories for me, remember the Hurrican Katrina Victims who spent her money from the redcross on a Gucchi Bag, Talk about irrate people here who lost homes and struggled to get help and are still living in tents.  I would never spend that kind of money when I know there is too much good you could do with it elsewhere!
