In our latest episode of the SheSpeaks podcast, Women of Influence, we sat down with Tamsen Fadal to discuss menopause and the lack of discussion, awareness, and education around this life stage that affects millions of women around the world.  Tamsen Fadal is an award-winning journalist, menopause advocate, filmmaker, and content creator. She recently left her 30-year career as a news anchor to dedicate herself to advocacy for menopause and women in midlife.

In the episode, we discuss the lack of research, the ongoing stigma, and limited understanding in both healthcare and the workplace. Tamsen shares with us the growing movement to provide better resources, support, and early education for women.

We also discuss the results of a SheSpeaks survey, in collaboration with Tamsen, to better understand the experiences of women during menopause and perimenopause. Close to 4,000 women participated in the study the key findings were that the perceived distinction between perimenopause and menopause is murky, and the actual definition of “menopause” appears to be unclear – or perhaps unimportant – to many women. See the full results of the survey here.

You can listen to the episode above or visit the episode page for more details and information! Keep reading to see how you can win one of five (1 of 5) copies of Tamsen's upcoming book, How to Menopause (Hachette, 2025)

Below are some of Tamsen's upcoming projects that you won't want to miss:

The M Factor
Three years in the making, the film shares the experiences of women in the U.S. navigating the challenges faced as they seek from doctors', their workplaces and at home.  From racial biases and gender-ignorant healthcare to systemic inequities and the glaring absence of essential medical research,  a deeply flawed system is revealed. The film shares the voices of women which are powerful reminder of the urgent need for change in how we approach women's health.

New Book:  How to Menopause
The book is written to be a menopause manual that cuts through the chaos so you can take back control of your body, your confidence, and your life.

Menopause is just a fact of life. Some people have it easy while for others it is hard. Find good advice to help you. This book sounds like it does.

AS you can see I commented on the blog post. But when I try to submit that, it logs me out. It won't take my answer. Please give me credit. This new way to enter sweepstakes is really frustrating.

Good topic to no longer keep in silence since many women endure this as they age. :)
