Summer of 2018 trends are not subtle. They're bold. They're extra. They're over the top.

Swimming isn't swimming without a giant pelican.

Swim floats have become more elaborate every year. For 2018, they are over-the-top grand. Check out this blog post from Blue Gray Gal, showing a variety of giant pool inflatables, including a rainbow unicorn with matching rainbow drink holder, an oyster shell that you can lounge in, and yes, the giant pelican. Cocktails are not just for sipping.

On past summer nights, you might have sat outside with a glass of wine or a gin and tonic. This summer, try something different. Get your alcohol fix from Vodka Martini ice pops. Nike is launching a fanny pack slide that has a zipper pouch on the strap. We applaud the practicality of this sandal, and yet we're not sure if we want to store our money on our foot. It's not clear yet the size of the pouch, so we'll see if it will be enough of a purse substitute. We do know that each of the three colors of the Nike Benassi JDI Fanny Pack cost $50 but are sold out at the Nike Store.

Makeup can be a surprising blast from the past. 

This year, makeup is inspired by two unlikely places: Crayola and Grease. Yes, you can now buy eye shadow, mascara or brushes from the icon of color. It's made for adults but shades are bright and fun, and some of the products even look like Crayola crayons or markers. For the 40th anniversary of the movie, Grease, Sola Look is launching an eye shadow palette designed with the Pink Ladies in mind. As of now, the eye shadow is sold out, but we sure hope they restock so we can pretend to go to Rydell High with Rizzo, Marty, Jan and Frenchy.

Flower bouquets are so yesterday. Try an edible one instead.

When you got married, did you ever picture yourself walking down the aisle with a beautiful bouquet made of... pizza? If so, then you're in luck! Villa Italian Kitchen, with locations across the U.S.,  is giving away a few bouquets and matching boutonnieres made from carefully crafted pizza dough, mozzarella, tomatoes, and pepperoni.
