Who doesn't love vacation? It's wonderful to escape the daily schedule, see new places and have someone else make you dinner.

But not every vacation is perfect. When I was a kid, my sister got a stomach bug at Disney and threw up on Goofy's shoe. And recently, when our flight to Chicago was cancelled, my family spent 8 hours at an airport just 15 minutes from our house.

While we can't prevent all the oops (sorry, Goofy!), read on for tips to avoid some of the bigger #VacationMishaps. Plus, be ready for your next trip, thanks to SuiteCase, a new company that sends vacation essentials directly to your hotel room or home. Enter below to win a free package. Bonus: there's also a special discount code for all of our members!

Here are some #VacationMishaps we've made, along with ways to avoid them...

Planning too much. Or too little.

No one wants to be so busy on vacation that they need another vacation. But you also know that if the kids are bored, it will never be relaxing. It's tough to balance everything to minimize the whining. I've found that it's best to plan one activity per day. That way, there's still time to enjoy that hike or museum, but also enough hours in the day for relaxation. So when I plan a trip, I look up all the things I want to do, and that's how many days we stay.

Not thinking about the weather.

I have a knack for always getting bad weather on vacation. It's become a recurring joke with my husband. But it has shown us to be resourceful and to plan ahead. So now we always have a couple of indoor activities planned before we leave (bowling and movies are good fall-backs), we bring rain jackets and mittens everywhere we go, and we are flexible about moving activities around based on forecast. Plus, we try to make the best of it - one of my favorite vacation memories is when we went swimming in the rain!

Keeping your phone in your hand.

It's so tempting to take photos of everything and then post them for the world to see. But after doing that, I realized how much I actually was missing. So now I have my camera in my pocket, ready for when my kids climb to the top of a giant rock pile. And then I put it away to head up there with them. I can still post on social after the kids are sleeping soundly and I finally have a moment to myself.

Forgetting the little things.

I love those little hotel shampoos - they make vacation so much more convenient. And then I look at my photos and realize that my frizzy hair does not love them back. Which is why I am intrigued by SuiteCase. They send packages of vacation essentials right to your hotel, resort or airBnB. Order a week in advance and it will be waiting for you when you arrive. SuiteCase can even send you extra sunscreen, since you don't want to spend your beach vacation healing from a day 1 burn!

I didn't bring underwear on a trip one time. I've never been on vacay, so I hope my little trip qualifies.

This past summer my fiance, daughter, and I went to Disney World. We decided to make it an experience and drive themail 2800 round trip. Better yet, I should say my 6 and half month pregnant self, drove the whole way. Between not finding any place to stay during a 6 hour road closure except for a place that made Bates Motel look like a 5 star hotel because you cant even see straight let alone function any longer after 18 hours of sitting in a car & only being halfway to your destination, pushing through hurricane rain where if it wasn't for the hazard lights of fellow cars we all would be in a ditch, a daughter who gets heat exhaustion, forgetting 2 important suitcases & coming home to a bill from Disney stating you owe almost $400 for international calls that we never even made. Gladly we made it home alive & managed to have an amazing time along the way and not going into early labor from all the stress & mishaps is a plus

I fell in a fish hatchery of trout when I was younger and my daddy had to reach in and grab me. It ruined my whole vacation and I did not want to do anything but sit in the cabin. I also had a bad bike wreck while looking and eyeing a boy and flipped on the concrete pavement and had to be rushed to the ER. I had to get a shot and pain meds from being all banged up. Lesson learned to never ride a bike looking at a boy when the pavement is wet :)

Our last long trip was when our youngest of 4 was a baby. 6 months old. We had everything. Or so we thought. I thought we had every essential item we would need to travel on the road and camp for 2 weeks. We drive 700 miles over night to get to stop one to find...oops. Everything but a bed for the baby. No bouncer, or pack and play..We forgot it! How? But we had all 4 kids and ourselves and enough supplies strapped to the roof of our van, we would have been ok Rio be gone a month. But. No baby bed. But we had the bottom drawer of a wide stable dersser @ the cabin we were at. I pulled it out, lined it with blankets add layed her in. That was a mistake. She woke up in a new place in a pulled out drawer and screamed! She never slept in her own crib by the time we made it home since. She sleeps with us now. Poor babe.

When Dad decided to take us to St. George for the first time, I thought it would be a blast! It was. That is, it was until the drive home. Turns out too much "fun in the sun" can lead to a miserable and barf filled ride home. I was stuck in the back middle seat of the car, squished between my younger siblings (both too young to be out of their booster seats) as they puked the whole six and half hours home. Yikes!

My husband is a notorious over- planner! Last year he overbooked both us and our friends (and their kids) on our vacation together and in turn everyone was ridiculously cranky and overly exhausted. To add insult to injury, I left my anxiety meds at my in-laws' snowbird house 90 minutes away, my son was constipated and my daughter had diarrhea. Two kids with stomach issues, two other kids with attitude issues, their parents begrudgingly reprimanding them for being insulting to their friend and me having a panic attack at the most magical place on earth? Nope. This year we decided to take a trip two weeks before they were available to join us and I made it clear to my husband - this is over my birthday week. We will all have moments to take a deep breath and relax!

I have an over packing issue. Laundry can always be done. I just learned that, the hard way.
